Saw Alive is good if there is not a massive queue, I was impressed with the theming and it is worth going in to see what they have done with the old shappy boat. The actors are ok and sometimes can be quite funny. Ive been on it twice the last time I went on was yesterday and that was only due to my brother had never been to Thorpe. Is a ride that you only really need to do once.

Give it a go AltonThorpe, it makes for a differnt type of ride. Not amazingly scary but as I said good theming

I'm going to have a lovely rant about Thorpe and it's needless over selling of fastrack tickets, but alas it will have to wait until tomorrow evening as having just got home from the place, I need to sleep before work tomorrow. :D

Funnily enough I was also at Thorpe today and was wondering if it would be better without fastrack but I can't see that happening as I'm sure they make a lot of money from it!

I couldnt agree more about fastrack, it sodding well slows the queues down as the amount of people they allow to go infront. What bugs me aswell is that on Nemisis Inferno they close the back row for fastrack.

I moan every time Im there about it!

Rant over.

I don't know if this has been mentioned anywhere yet, but me and Chip went to Thorpe on monday and if you look at a lot of the signs, they appear to have images of rather distinctive vekoma corkscrew...

If Thorpe ever install a Vekoma Corkscrew then I'll rip up my Annual Pass and go straight.

Had a bit of a major health and safety incident at my first visit to Thorpe Park yesterday. A mechanic managed to leave a pair of pliers on a seat that he had just closed on Detonator, only realised they were there when we dropped to the bottom and I heard a loud bang on the ground next to me (I was sitting on the seat next to the one that had been closed). They're lucky it didn't fall a few more feet forward else it probably could have killed someone standing in the queueline.

'Goal-ercoaster' Flies England's Fastest Flag at Thorpe Park

THORPE PARK, the nation’s Thrill Capital, have created the fastest England flag in the country by turning Stealth into an 80mph St George’s Cross, preparing England supporters across the country for the World Cup and a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

From Friday 11th June, and for as long as Stevie G and the boys are still competing in the tournament, THORPE PARK are offering patriotic fans half price entry* when wearing official England replica shirts - giving them the chance to ride Stealth, one of Europe’s fastest rollercoasters, and the country’s fastest national flag.

Vicki Smith, Marketing Director said: ‘We know how supporting England can feel like you’re on a rollercoaster ride at times, so we’re asking fans to substitute it for the real thing at THORPE PARK. Everyone at the Park is going football mad, we’ve even turned Stealth into our very own ‘Goal-ercoaster’!

The team may be thousands of miles away, but supporters will feel every high and low, and with views of Wembley from the top of Stealth, THORPE PARK is a great place for fans to sport their shirts and support their team.’

With Capello’s team starting the group stages on Saturday, fans are able to take advantage of half price entry to the Park in a bid to tackle some of Europe’s most extreme rollercoasters. Kick off with the ten-looping Colossus, shoot from 0-80mph in under 2 seconds to the height of 205ft on Stealth and finish the hat-trick on Nemesis Inferno, the 4.5 G-Force experience. And if there’s any extra time, England fans will be able to face their fears on the world’s most terrifying rollercoaster, SAW – The Ride before braving SAW Alive, the world’s most extreme live action horror maze.

After all that, the highs and lows of an England match won’t seem so bad and with games being shown live at the Park, there will be plenty of time to experience both the ups and downs of the match and the rollercoasters!

Eugh.

Want to see some pictures of this monstrosity? You really don't, but just in case, Thorpe Park Mania have a couple...

Interesting they could only afford 2/find 2 people with England shirts for the photoshoot - the others are just wearing plain white...

Also, is it actually possible to see wembly from stealth?

"SERGEANT, COME QUICK... it's... MUTATING!"

"But... but... we took all the appropriate measures to make sure we had the Morwenna safely under control! How can this be happening?! Doc, what do you think about this?"

"It's like a virus. The Morwenna seems to have spread south and mutated into a new form on the way. It's seems to have adopted the chav-friendly moniker of Vicki Smith in order to fit in with its new surroundings at Thorpe Park"

"But what can we do to stop it?!"

"I'm afraid there's nothing we can do. While the mothership Merlin has these parks under its grip of power then the virus will simply spread faster, leaving behind marketing trash, bizarre money-grabbing sponsorship deals and car parking charges as it goes"

"...MY GOD WHAT HAVE WE DONE."

I say go Thorpe Park, I think it's great that they are showing their support for the England football team, and wish Towers were doing something similar as well. Towers Street would look lovely with a load of England flags!

The World Cup is also a great marketing opportunity, so I don't blame Thorpe one bit for taking advantage of it. I'm sure a lot of people will take advantage of the 50% off entry tickets deal for people going to the park in an official replica England shirt!

Is anyone surprised that a Merlin theme park is doing a World Cup promotion? I'm certainly not.
It makes sense for them to join in with all the marketing that takes place during the world cup.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have a press release from Alton Towers in the next few days.

I love how people are always moaning about silly marketing gimmicks until it's THEIR interest of choice (politics with the Th13teen story, football) and then suddenly they're like "YES, Merlin must plaster their well-themed rollercoasters with more England flags than a BNP member's house!" Kinda hypocritical.

Alton did this a lot better a few years ago for Euro 2004, when they painted an Oblivion car in red and white and said they'd do them all if England won.

Edit: I really don't think a flood of people running around in football shirts at Thorpe is a good idea. Isn't the place already a magnet for hooligans?!

I really hope you're joking. For me, a theme park should be about escapism. Not jingoistic crap like this.

Although it does suit Thorpe to a tee.

The Sweden area of Europa park has Swedish flags all down it's street and thats one of the greatest theme parks in Europe. I'd see absolutely no problem with Alton donning England flags down Towers Street for what, two weeks tops. It is an English theme park afterall. Hell, Chessington often has a Union Jack flag flying from the Safari Skyway turrets every now and then. Is that "jingoistic crap"

That's because the Sweden area of Europa Park is themed to Sweden. I didn't realise Towers Street was themed to pointless nationalism, though credit to the park for picking such an abstract concept as an area theme. Maybe the Swedish flags are meant to make you feel more immersed into believing your in Sweden, but when I go to Towers I remember I'm in England thanks.

As someone quipped to me rather amusingly after they saw that photo, "Intamin Acceleracist".

I mean it really looks ghastly.

It's a bit of fun to get behind the team. I really don't see a problem with it. Nice to be proud once in a while.

Why?

Why is it, that being patriotic is so often associated with racism, every other country does it, but when it comes to england, your branded racist for sporting an England flag.

Yep exactly, this is the biggest sporting event in the world, there's nothing wrong with supporting our nation for a few weeks. Everyone's getting behind the team, from our armed forces out in Afghanistan to Downing Street, so there's nothing wrong at all with theme parks getting in on the action!

Okay, there's nothing wrong with getting behind England, but this is just taking the mick, it is hideous! In my opinion the third best ride in the country, ruined. Yes I'm a football fan but still it's horrible!
