Beat The Swarm!

Tue Mar 19, 2013 4:00 pm

Well as I'm sure you're aware, The Swarm has mutated a sting for the 2013 season. It now sends its riders backwards past near misses. So Thorpe Park have released a competition/viral marketing campaign called Beat The Swarm.

Please click on the link below, and you will also be able to purchase 30% off Thorpe Park tickets!

http://look-at-this-now.co.uk/knevg

If anyone else is taking part in this, please post your link too, as we need as much support as possible!

I tried it today, I really really wanted it to be something better.  It's different and it's worth a go, but I'm sorry it's not more enjoyable, it's not more intense.  The close encounter elements are gone before you notice them, you also lose the psychological element of watching the rest of the train rip through the sections in front of you, making the whole thing feel slower.

I too rode The Swarm Backwards and forwards today... they each have their own merits, the advantage of backwards is that what is coming is a surprise, best place ever is forward at the front though, nothing like seeing the whole ride and all the effects for all they're worth...

I honestly don't think it has any merits, it has novelty value of watching the track go by and a different view of going up the lift hill.  I don't count novelties as a merit in my book, it doesn't add value, for me, the overall ride experience suffers for it.  My favorite seat last year was rear left.

Quiet days are going to suffer where staff are going to be dealing with empty seats going around, busy peak days, well that's just a pain waiting to happen.

The Swarm Confirmed Modifications

Thu Mar 21, 2013 6:42 am

^yep, as the train passes through some elements (plane wing and station roll to name a few) The Swarm noise plays.

I notice this season the fire is working a lot more (every train on Monday), but the water jets aren't working well.

The Swarm Confirmed Modifications

The jets were working for me, I stuck my arm out, I was wearing a jumper and it really hurt, the back right I think the water hit me hard.
