Interesting competition they're running...

FRIDAY COMPETITION!

Ever wanted a say in the theming of our rides? Well now is your chance to come up with a slogan to be graffitied across the twisted metal of our devastated billboard – the brand new near miss for THE SWARM in 2013

We will pick the best entry, and the winner will receive a VIP trip to THORPE PARK for 4 people, plus the chance that your idea may feature on the final billboard design and become a part of THORPE PARK’s history.

Send your entries to [email protected] before noon on Wednesday 13th February to be in with a chance of winning, and remember these top tips:

- Slogans should be a short sentence – no longer than 6 words.
- The slogan should fit with the theme of THE SWARM – a swarm of alien creatures that has attacked humanity, causing widespread apocalyptic devastation. In 2013, it has mutated to carry a deadly sting in its tail, making it stronger than ever – and humankind must join the Resistance and fight back. Check out http://www.thorpepark.com/rides/the-swarm.aspx for all the info!
- Check out the T&Cs here before entering! https://www.facebook.com/notes/thorpe-p ... 3808280092

I'm in the middle as backward sort of kills the point of a near miss, but adds a feeling of unknown

We don't need multiple topics for such a minor adjustment to a roller coaster. Thanks.

I'm going to go try it on opening day and see what it's like before I vote. Gotta have some scientific rigour!

Looks like a very good near miss, although I can't see how this will be better from the backward perspective.

my thoughts entirely....shame really as i think its stunning as it is.

Also, i feel its a bit of a cop out by thorpe essentially modifying this to market it as 'new' when i think it would have been better to add a dark ride this season. hey ho

In my honest opinion its not that great anyway, I think Raptor is better (I have ridden it) and all the American wing riders look better

Well I agree and disagree as the swarm is far superior in theming to Americans but American ones seem to have a better 'ride' on them

It all comes down to the amount of space UK theme parks have, compared to their American counterparts. We have a few coasters in this country that prove you don't need a vast amount of space to have a great coaster. But of all coaster types I would say a wing rider really needs the most amount of space, to fit a great layout.
