I took quite a large photo update yesterday, with lots of supports, and the base of the lifthill in the air.

Here's a few important ones.

Really great photo update Dan! :) I really didn't expect this ride to be quite that tall, it's quite obvious that this thing is really going to dominate and mainly be about the intimidation of the massive drop and zero-G roll. It should also add a completely different dimension to the ride that lacked from Raptor through the height. It should also be a strange experience coming straight down to the ground so quickly and then rising again so high to the Zero-G.

Exciting stuff.

:D

Why is everyone so suprised how tall it is, or how close it is to something. We've all seen the ride site plans in detail. You don't exactly make it up as you along. Then again it is something different when you see it take form. It's getting very exciting now.

I didn't realise how much queing area they are giving this thing.

The only thing I can't seem to find in detail is the actual station, it would be interesting to see why it's so large, even if it is just supposed to be a derelict church.

A hilarious aside from the Swarm Devolpment Diary
A team of 15 specialist German engineers are camping out on the island until the erection is complete.

Seems the Germans are getting it up quick though.

Who Is "Lez Cougan"?

Not sure about you guys, but I think he is a fake nothing compared to Les Coogan.

11.07.11 Contaminated rubble…..3 trucks were spotted dumping contaminated rocks and rubble onto the island, posing radioactive threats to all visitors of THORPE PARK!I have even seen people wearing protective suits and masks!

I am certain that this bizarre activity is somehow being controlled by THE SWARM…its power keeps on growing...WAR IS COMING!

Hmm, do wonder about this it seems Thorpe know exactly what is going on. Not surprised really.

This page has been around a while, but the "release of the secret diary" thing is pretty recent. I think.

I'm loving the 'Missing Wall' - it's rather awesome to scroll around and recognise so many people. Really bringing the promotion to life :)

It was kind of freaky for me... Seeing everyone I know on a wall...

That video is bloody brilliant. I love it when my friends come up on the wall, and how it shows your house!

I still think the ride will be very short and very average, but the theming is looking better and better, especially with that huge church frame!

Great video and really freaky seeing your friends, I thought one had signed up first then more and more I recognised, then seeing your house. Great brainwave of an idea whoever came up with it.

My greatest fear is still with regards to the ride's intensity. I'm sure it'll be more Air than Nemesis in terms of force.

Do we think the chance of this having an IP attachment has now gone? Remember all the talk of the Gears of War link, would this be announced by now if it were the case (I did not follow Saw's construction)?

I would think it would have been announced by now... Since they have started the marketting

I would rather not have another link to gears of war! :P in my opinion it would be a terrible IP. Not because itll be bad but, it wont add anything to the ride. Just a waste of money.

went to thorpe park yesterday.
on the big poster for the swarm you can clearly see a kind of jet engine firing some flames near the riders face!! I thought straight away there must be some fire effects??? also shows water??

Tom, I think fortunately IP looks very unlikely! Merlin haven't done an IP coaster since Saw.

Simon, I think fire is definitely a possibility. Thorpe used to have fire effects on Tidal Wave.

Here is the fire effects on X2 (sort of a wingrider), is this what you had in mind?
