What a great looking Flume for such a small park! I have been on Camelot's and, sure, the layout isn't exciting but it looks like they've done really well for the space / money available!

:)

That looks very good for a park of that size, it's themed well and you can tell that they've taken time to make it the best it can be. :)

Great little ride by the looks of it. Looks like the best themed ride at Wicksteed and may go down over the summer. :)

Re: Wicksteed Park - Kettering

Hi Everyone,

Thought I would post something about this park.

I've been going there 30+ years since I was a child and a big part of the park has always been the iconic double pirate ship. It's only one of two left in the world according to the park. I've had a look about the web and rather than finding the second, I can only find this one.

Anyway, the park have announced that it needs a £200K refit at the end of the season to get it up to H&S codes for next year and so it will definately be leaving the park at the end of the season.

The park is a stunning example of how a small park should be run. Friendly staff, fun rides and you can take a BBQ and even camp there for next to nothing.

Just really wanted to make everyone aware that you have 8 weeks to go to ride this iconic pirate ship before she goes forever. Also a ride on the worlds oldest watershute straight into the lake is always fun although your nice new white t-shirts may end up green.........

If anyone has pictures of the pirate ship from days gone by it would be nice to see them as they have changed a lot over the years.

A competition was run to be the last riders in October but sadly I didn't win :(

Have fun

Wicksteed Park's water chute has been listed.

The UK's oldest water chute ride has been added to Historic England's list of protected heritage sites.
The chute in Kettering was invented in 1926 by the philanthropist Charles Wicksteed.
It was a forerunner to many of the theme park rides now popular across the country.
