I loved it! Much better than Tidal Wave at Thorpe Park, is it sponsored by the drink?

At least you can breath on Tidal Wave.

Wow, actually hearing something from Oakwood.. this is actually amazing.

Still, this is pisspoor from such a beautiful park. Yes, you maintain your place and keep it fully refreshed with plenty of paint.. but you completely and utterly fail to invest in rides and ensuring you gain more and more visitors.

It annoys me, such a brill park, just such awful decision making/budgetting!

i now think that hydro has a new ride system and theres a new flat ride in the park.
doubt the sponsership but drenched should have a good theme aswell.
got to be a new boat design and a heavier boat to make the turn with half a load.
if it doesnt then all they got is a less effective name and a few extra pumps for the rare summer and to be used only after 2pm again
all speculation of .course

It is ruddy wet, mind you. However - Tidal Wave, Valhalla, Battle Galleons, Splash Battle (FL) give it a run for its money.

I can't even look at that picture without shaking . I can't work out if it's because it's a water ride and I get scared on water rides or, if it's because I know somebody has fallen right from the top and died.

They can change the name but I still remain confident that I won't ride it, ever. In fact, this could just be me and my fear of water rides but, it seems even more intimidating with the name 'Drenched'.

There is a 'Ride the Big 4' page on Facebook that seems to originate from Oakwood (revealed the 'Drenched' name a week or so ago and staff opportunities etc). Most recent post is - 'the 2011 season will feature a wild west dive show on selected dates in July in August.. sounds um.. Wild i suppose :-p'. Nice to have some shows in the park again. Also the RCCGB have been told that the park will do After Dark with fireworks again this year on Wednesdays and Fridays during August.

A park would only change a rides name to get a decent sponsorship deal which seems like they have done.

I will be taking my first ever visit to oakwood this year when i go for a hol in swansea but i am only going there to ride megapfobia. I am no longer interested in getting soaked for the day unless the build up is a long decent ride, such as valhalla.

You say that. When you see the wave you'll be the first running to it. Especially when you've already rode half the park by 10:30.

Also going to Oakwood for the first time this year. Not a fan of water rides as we rarely have the weather. But still, theres other rides to be enjoyed.
~ Good try but not this time ~

Photos just posted by Oakwood on Facebook:

The new colour scheme for Drenched. It's err, different! :P

"Smugger's Island". Is this new? Certainly ruins the lake view of Megafobia!

It doesn't look great at all, and I highly doubt the name with catch on, I bet most will still call it Hydro.

I quite like the new colour scheme; bright and cheerful seems to suit the ride, and the park. :)

Trouble is, it'll be bleached in no time, and you'll be left with an almost magnolia ride. Then it will have to be sponsored by homebase...

Smugglers Island has always been there. It just seems this year they found some paint and smartened it up a bit.

Both 'Drenched' and Smugglers Island were painted in those colours last year (well in August when I visited anyway). The only thing new is obviously the logo, which I'm not a massive fan of. Smugglers Island is Pepsi sponsored, hence the colours. Last August there was also a large pepsi 'sail' on the island, fixed to the mast that is empty on those photos.

---- Post Info Added ----

Oakwood have confirmed on their Facebook page that After Dark is returning on Wednesdays and Fridays in August - 10-10pm opening, standard ticket price for those that don't know. Also the new dive show will be taking place in July and August.

I can barely stand Valhalla with a rain mac on, so i'd hate Drenched or Tidal Wave.
Not too keen on the yellow colour scheme for the station if i'm being honest either.

are the water cannons working now?
and is there any sign of a coaster to back the new logo that looks like the corckscrew that sits in the entrance of alton towers
