Merlin, face it, SW7 needs to be a valley woodie. Because...... just....... well, because it does! :P

Biggest drop on a wooden roller coaster in the entire world would be easy enough to market. Even if it didn't attract people onto it because of how 'deadly' it might be, the world's biggest drop on a wooden coaster would surely bring people just to come have a butchers? People from across the globe would travel to ride it and that would probably mean 'multi-day' guests. :)

Yes, the RCCGB had a discussion about a wooden coaster at a theme park they went to...

In fact, everytime I went to Drayton with them over... 6 odd years, this discussion happened...

Until some SERIOUS PROOF appears, I'm waving this one on as hopefulness... Because Andy Hine asks every park about wooden coasters, even Towers and Blackpool in my experiences...

Let's break it down, because we can already rule out 4 parks because of Merlin, LWV surely don't have enough money for one, Oakwood we have no idea what direction it's going in, Drayton have noise issues (though personally I think that makes no problem with wooden coasters), Mingo are weird, Blackpool have no space for one...

Looking at it, there's only two parks likely for it to happen at... And even they're unlikely...

I'm fairly certain Thorpe ruled out wood because the land isn't suitable? Probably because most of it is reclaimed.

If Drayton did get one, and it proved popular. It's a fairly safe bet that Alton Towers wouldn't be too far behind.

THREE new woodies for the UK, one for Drayton Manor?

Fri Oct 14, 2011 1:04 am

I can tell you that Lightwater Valley ain't one of them.

Would be nice to see a new woodie in the UK, but three in the space of five years? I find that unlikely.

Stranger things have happened though.

If it is true, flamingo land could come true with the sale of the corkscrew coaster. Until its official though i can't believe it.

People were mentioning a small woodie to replace the Corkscrew when people first started to talk about it possibly being sold to a theme park in France. I don't know anything about that but a small woodie like one of these at Flamingo Land would be a great!

Wooden Warrior - Quassy Amusement Park: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRH3dzmgMUg

Something a bit bigger would be better but I don't know how much land they'd have to work with? But then again, this is just a rumour.

Lol

I remember the rumours of a few years ago of Chessie building one behind the hotel. That would have been perfect so its a shame the safari extension has gone there instead.

The problem with Flamingo Land bringing in a wooden rollercoaster (which would obviously be flammable) would be the high number of staff smoking on ride stations.

To help this rumour, I was there today and I noticed by the car-park next to the Thomas land entrance, there was some kind of wooden supports and track. May not be but it's definatly along those lines.

Also, they've cleared and flattened a bit of land near the rapids.

It all could be red herrings but somethings definatly happening.

Btw, I do have a picture to prove the supports which I'll upload on Sunday.

Interesting, but if this coaster was opening for 2012, we would have seen way more construction/marketing by now. Swarm is halfway to being built, and the promotion for it started beginning of the season.

If this is for 2013, it's far too early. I'm calling BS on this one, it must be for something else. On the other hand, the member has a high post count of 747 so there may be something in it!

But wooden supports and 'track' could be anything.

I mean any sort of building material that could be used anywhere all over the park. It's kinda hard to believe with out at least a photo.

747 isn't a high post count on Coasterforce... Especially when some of the topics are just made of WHY...

I know I've not been in the loop for some years now, but in my day the combination of RCCGB and CoasterForce made for a total BS cocktail...

Here's the photo. Not exactly a smoking gun for a new woodie.

That could pretty much be anything, Also why would it be put in a corner which looks like it would discolour due to the surrounding bushes etc

We saw this in July from a ride in Thomas Land. When the park closed we wandered over to it as it looked like coaster track, only to realise that it looks like an old roof. Its curved tublar steel which is not coaster track...

So just to confirm, this is not coaster track.... :)

Please move along.... nothing to see.....

I haven't been to Thorpe for a good number of years, but how much space would the removal of the Canada Creek Railway leave? It would also be the most suitable area of the park to put a wooden coaster in my opinion too. [Clutches at hope]
