Thorpe Park has had great year this year, even without a major new attraction, a nice revamp of X and adding the swarm backwards, as well as other little things around the park, making it better than it has ever been, as well as the new (and i must say improved) fright nights this year... it would have been Alton Towers, but Thorpe Park will definitely get my vote for 2013!

I guess Funderworld (Travelling Fair which appeared at Bristol This year) could be included in the list.

Now where have I seen a topic like this ;)

I would have to say universal studios Florida. With the addition of the transformers ride, and the general amazement th park gives, it gets my vote

I'd say alton towers, because let's not forget it was the year of The Smiler!!! And although it had problems this was builders, gerstlauer and management fault, not the park, there's slightly uncomfortable parts but the number of good parts outweigh the bad so that's my reason :)

I would like to nominate Oakwood Theme Park, people don't know much about Oakwood and that's a shame but it's a great family park and this year it added Neverland so it was a great year for them and Blackpool Pleasure Beach for the same reason.

I agree with ilc about Universal Studios that has also had The Simpsons area added as well as the Transformers ride.
However, I think that Magic Kingdom should be added because when I went in August it had an amazing atmosphere and never fails to impress.

Hang on, I'm really confused about this topic.

Fristly you're saying UK Park of the year and people are suggesting ones in America. Can I nominate any park in the world then? Or does it have to be UK?

You've also put no discussion, so does that mean I shouldn't  be possting a reply? Should I just state the name of a park and leave it at that?

I like the say Drayton Manor every year since Thomas land opened the park got better and better with plans to built a second hotel there got to be now the 4th best park in the uk ahead of Chessington. But no1 for been run on it's own and with the same family in charge since day 1.

I apologise over the American parks confusion as I believe I started it

When I first posted, there was nothing in the rules about the UK. I know see it has been added and so therefore understand that my park will not be chosen.

Once again I apologise

I have to stay true to towers with this one.
Proving that we can have a world beating thrill coaster when all hope really was lost.
The effort of theme they produced proved back to the standards of Nemesis with an experience that matches the beast. For the space they had i dont think any of us could have anticipated just what they would be adding to the arsenal of attractions. I know there had been delays but we did have one of the worst winters going, The mazes this year were all top form. Sanctuary-TotT-Carnival and Zombies all provided a different experience and really brought the atmosphere back to Towers, And the Smiler In The Dark well that has to be up there with all the coasters.
The level of detail in TotT is immense even if the story doesn't shine through as well. And the thought that went into jack nifes finale was genius. Good year for Towers in my honest opinion

Well if we're just suggesting UK parks, I would say Blackpool Pleasure Beach is the best in my opinion... JUST!

The park is making big improvements despite struggling at off peak times. Wallace and Gromit was a great new addition and there have been plenty of general clean ups around the park and re-development of rides like Steeplechase.

The reason I say "JUST" is because Alton Towers has been great this year and I think it's a shame that some other forums (naming no names but hopefully people know which one I mean) feel they have to resort to making 'digs' at Alton and Merlin to make their park look better. Smiler was a good new addition and Alton Towers' coaster line up is superb, despite being too gimmicky for my liking. In previous years, I would have said Blackpool straight away, without question. This year I've been impressed by Alton Towers....... Sadly I've been pretty disappointed with Drayton Manor this year, although I've not visited since May so things could have improved. Chessington has also been quite a let down, as I'm normally quite a fan of that park.
