No I've never worked at the pier (although I did think about trying to get a part time weekend job there a few years back. Would love to be a ride operator for a bit.)

Now your going back. There has in fact been two "coasters" on the Grand Pier

The most recent was a small steel coaster that used to be at the back of the old pavilion. Think this was during 80's - early 90's.

The second was a small wooden switch back coaster that was located inside the old pavilion building. Not much is known about this coaster as it wasn't open for long but rumors suggest the ride was closed and dismantled after an accident.

Hope this helps

Wow! What type of coaster was the steel one? How do you mean by the "old" psycadillia (sorry if thats spelt wrong!) Was it removed? Did they extend the fun house? I was only on the pier late December and didn't notice it was gone!

Just found some details of the steel coaster. It was called "Blizzard" and more details can be found here:
http://rcdb.com/3629.htm#

Last time I was on the pier the "Psychedelia" ride was being re themed / Upgraded. I can't remember the new name (might pop on there tomorrow to remind myself). It was being advertised as "The Fun House For Adults".

I'm not sure why Blizzard got removed. It took up a lot of space and looked rather tame so that could be a clue.

I've just uploaded a photo of the new "Psychedelia" replacement attraction on my Facebook page.
The new attraction is called "House of Mirrors".

I've given up with Photo Bucket as it's so slow at the moment, This isn't just a shameless plug for my page... Honest.

That's fine. You don't need an account to view a public page.

Well it was never an overly popular ride, the special glasses kept getting nicked and the last time I went through half of the "effects"/fairy lights didn't work and of course not being able to see in front of you was a huge H&S risk so not surprised it got replaced.

Bit disappointed with it's replacement though.
