Re: London Dungeons possibly moving to county hall

It's entirely due to the re-design of London Bridge station.

Network Rail are buying the London Dungeon out - and funding the move, as it's not The Dungeon's fault that it has to move.

As I've said before, I am very excited by this.

Has construction started yet, does anyone know? Surely it must have by now.

You really need to have a more in depth talk about this, the next time you do ERT on the Season Pass! Lol :)

Thanks!

Don't know what else can be said at the moment.  Once it's open, I will enjoy doing a big compare and contrast!

Yes - I think they'll need to wait for the Olympics nonsense to die down before attempting work around there, as it's incredibly busy.

I have to say - IF it is going ahead, they're being incredibly quiet about it.  One would think Merlin would have their crazy PR wheels already rolling in this situation.

What stupid news stories could they come up with?

Spirits force them out of Tooley Street Home
London Eye is haunted
Sea Life is haunted

They won't start the marketing yet, they've not even started moving.
It won't be open in County Hall until the beginning of 2013 so it's too early for a marketing campaign.
When they start working on the new site and people are looking and going 'hmm what's that?' then they'll do something.

I can see them working inside now as we already coming up to the 8th month of the year if they want it open early 2013. Unless it's opening without the rides inside.

You can see them working inside?  When I walked down the southbank the other day, I couldn't find any sign of where it was going to be.  Is it inside the derelict Chinese restaurant?

"I can see them working inside now..." is a figure of speech not an actual observation. If the place is expected to open early 2013 which only 3-4 months away it is realistic to believe/expect that work may have started inside out of view.

From what I'm aware yes it is. The current dungeons are expected to close sometime over the winter period.

I am just surprised as to how quiet they're keeping it!  Do we think they'll make a big deal out of it, or just announce suddenly the Dungeon has moved?

I was under the impression that they will be doing a "move", which will include moving over props and theming from Tooley Street to the County Hall? Through the opening times page on their website, they have confirmed opening times up to 1st January 2013, with no break for the move.

I believe they will wait for the dust to settle after the holiday period, before conducting the move between mid-January and mid-March. They'll make sure the new Dungeons are open for the Easter Holidays :)

Unless it's changed they were closing an unspecified date in December until the reopening at County Hall.
Whichever, they are underway with it all as we speak.

I don't think they're "moving" it all.  The props/sets are all dated, I am sure they'd rather get a whole new lot in! They'll probably move the ticketing equipment and such, but that can be done in an evening.

This is just really interesting as it's the first time (in a long time) that an indoor attraction has re-located.

Exciting! Have you wandered past County Hall and seen this happening?

No, I've not been that way yet. I know someone who works there and they just said that it's all go, they didn't go into detail but there's a lot of excitement.
So expect a nice new Dugeons sometime early next year!

Also bear in mind the 'Death Trap' scare attraction recently moved out of County Hall to make way for an incoming tenant.

I wonder who that could be! ;)
