I think the current development of Lightwater Valley reflects the fact that the company that own it, Heritage GB are successful at developing attractions which commercialise famous landmarks, such as Lands End, Needles and Snowdon Mountain, needless to say people want to visit those places anyway, they go there because of the landmark, not because of the half assed visitor centres that are there, this is why a birds of prey and classic car museum, trampolines, burger vans and cheap fence maze have appeared at Lightwater Valley, which is not really how a theme park should be operated / developed
Heritage GB made a really promising start, adding Treetops Twister and Blackwidows Web and the Valligators, however the seasons that have followed have proved disappointing, with the Batflyer and the leased Bembom rides been removed from the park, including Viper, Orbiter and Beaver Rapids, these four rides made a visit to Lightwater Valley really memorable and were always very enjoyable to ride, it feels like they haven’t truly replaced these rides.
Grizzly Bear was an odd coaster to add as it is very similar to the Rat Ride coaster, Eagles Claw was a great addition, but they’ve wasted that sheltered piece of land where the Viper once stood they could have hid another coaster in there, and put the Claw elsewhere
The way kiddie rides like “Trauma Tower” are made out to be a thrill ride in the same league as the Ultimate just annoys me!
What makes Lightwater Valley such a charming place to visit is the very original, quirky rides that you really couldn’t find anywhere else, such as the Ultimate, The sewer pipe walkway down to Rat Ride, swinging above a waterfall in a forest clearing on the Wave and rolling down a hill in a skip into a pond aboard Toad Hole
I’m sick of the cheap nasty fairground ride the park are throwing in without any effort, and hence i’m not getting my hopes up about “Skyrider”
