Yes, although for brief periods. It tends to lose momentum quite quickly (thank god on the second section)

The Ultimate promo video is simply stunning. I'm blown away. I know it was produced on the cheap with one marketing guy and a HD camera, and it looks like it was made by a full-budget Hollywood film crew. Simply stunning. Bravo.

I still think Raptor Attack will top this, but it is absolute quality.

As far as I know, a new video won't be made for Raptor Attack as a very high-quality video was already made for the ride's opening in 2010, and can be seen on their website. :)

Go LWV!

How funny with them putting all these excellent promos and giving all of Loudoun's rides a new home and with the possibility of them getting either TNS or Barnstormer, well, it's safe to say that this little park has started to grow on me. :P

Good news from LWV on Facebook:

Good afternoon everyone. We just wanted to reassure all of our fans that our annual price of all our tickets will NOT be increased this year. We are... and continue to be a great value day out for enthusiasts and families. We're looking forward to welcoming you here this season.

Lightwater Valley: 2011 Discussion

Thu May 19, 2011 4:13 pm

*sigh*

I know I'm gonna be one of about 1-2 people with this view, but Lordy do I find this kinda response from LWV childish and irritating.

Merlin: "We're short-sighted, greedy and hate our most loyal customers, so we're gonna up the prices of our Annual Passes"

LWV: "Oo, Oo, well we're not! :P. We've got perfect vision, love our customers and are completely 100% altruistic, so we're gonna do the opposite of that evil Merlin bunch, ner ner n-ner ner!"

Tit for tat. Childish.

The fact that LWV have kept they're prices fixed is great, and gives them a one-up on Merlin. The fact that they feel they have to so publically announce it, though, is just ridiculous.

There, said. Please do carry on with the LWV love now.

I just see it as a bit of lighthearted fun, not to be taken seriously. :)). If LWV or any other of the smaller parks wish to capitalise on a competitors current issues by bigging up their own credentials Then good luck to them. I don't see it is a problem, they are simply using social networking to their own advantage.

Oh come on - it's a post on facebook, which is not exactly renowned for its intellectual discussions. Quite the opposite, it is often mocked for the juvenile level of the comments.

It is attention seeking by LWV - but isn't all advertising exactly that? ;)

Come on Mark! I don't really like capitalism much. But this is one of the BEAUTIES of capitalism. If you do something better than another company (as long as it's an accurate claim) you have the right to fully shout it from the rooftops! Competition THRIVES on someone else doing something better and telling the public about it. Theoretically, that's how competition is supposed to lead to better parks for everyone.

Apple do it with their "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" commercials. Pepsi do it to Coke all the time. Why should Lightwater Valley shut up about the fact that they actually give a toss about the customer?!

Unsurprisingly, I completely agree! They should get on with what really concerns them rather than jumping onto the mock Merlin bandwagon. If they keep doing stuff like this it is going to become even more boring and annoying. If I were them, I'd spend my time looking into how to get a decent ride that might actually make more people want to visit the park as right now they don't have that.

To be fair, we have sat here for the past week (technially 5 months if we go back to the car parking scenario) criticising Merlin to the max, so if another company wants to take advantage of their terrible run of customer satisfaction then good on them.
Like has been said above, it's only a comment on Facebook. I couldn't care less about LWV to be honest, but we are all having digs at Merlin, why can't they!

Yes, because the 30 seconds it took them to type the status is really going to have an effect on that...

So would you criticize Apple for pointing out all the ways Macs are better than PCs? In fact, I'd like to see MORE of this kind of advertising. Instead of trying to sell the image of a product, or a lifestyle, or some weird "climbing into a car park" metaphor like Alton's ads, just tell me why your park is better than your competitors. That is what LWV are doing, and well done to them.

As you well know, the marketing department are a completely different division and on a completely different budget to the "ride purchasing" department. Not that that's really relevant, as posting status updates costs absolutely nothing anyway. Also on your last point, LWV's flat rides are FAR better than Alton's, and many of us believe The Ultimate is nearly as good or as good as Nemesis. Only the most blinded Merlin fanboy would say LWV have no "decent rides" ;)

I would say they have no stand out ride that is going to attract non-enthusiasts. I don't think you're average theme park goer is going to want to go to Lightwater based on the fact they have a Top Scan or something like that. And I'm not going into The Ultimate debate again, we know some love it and others don't see what all the fuss is about!

Perfect reply! Once upon a time, BPB was king of the hill, and Alton was the upstart. What they very quickly realised is that if you do things just that little bit better than the Big guy, people will eventually migrate to you. LWV will never have the sort of visitor numbers that Alton gets, but as they say...every little helps!

It's not childish; it's not personal. LWV have every right to capitalise on the unpopular decisions of Merlin.
