Had it been in place two week's ago, I'd have used it as the was a CoasterForce meet at Blackpool. The whole family would have gone as it would have been a good price point.

Sadly, it was too expensive and we couldn't get offers - so stayed at home.

Now it's too late to be planning trips in August, as I've already planned every weekend - so the boat has been missed and there's four less people will be going to Blackpool than could have been.

It's a good move, but is it too little too late.

I have to say, I watched a Pleasure Beach Resort advert before Harry Potter last night. I was surprised to see that Hot Ice and the other shows are back again. I hadn't heard they were on again - so well done to her for giving the full range of of everything as depicted in the ad and for £15 less.

You are spot on with your posting..
The Pleasure Beach should of done this after Easter time in my opinion to get more people into the park..

The shows are still cancelled Furie not sure why they have included them in their latest advertising campaign.. 8-[

The advert is very focused at the start on hot Ice and one other show. Then the entire idea of the advert is a kind of "There's absolutely something for everyone to enjoy!" With the shows in the film, it gives the impression that granny will be fine going as she can sit and watch the shows while the youngsters play on the rides.

lets not forget it's still Mandy Land after all, we can't expect her to have got her act (ba dum dum tsshh) together on everything. As we know it's a slooooooooow process with that place. But for £20 I may even consider dropping by, which is saying something.

Hi guys, I am off to Blackpool on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, visiting BPB on Wednesday. I was thrilled to see the late night openings giving us plenty of extra time in the park. I was just curious as to what the park will be like. How busy do you think it will be? What rides are currently open and closed? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for riding the Runaway Minetrain, we hope you enjoyed your trip. Choo! Choo!

All advertised rides are open (forget the SBNO's, just treat them as if there not there.)

Q's are fast moving as a rule, regardless of length so dont be put off by a long Q, unless you see 1 train operation!

The rides which are SBNO are Noah's Ark, Space Invader, Trauma Towers (however it looks like its being cleared inside) Gold Mine, and RollerCoaster (both of which will open randomly, and if enough other rides break!)

Forgot I was registered here!
Am heading down on a Monday towards the end of August, just wondering about a couple of things. I don't quite understand the Rollercoaster/Big Dipper situation. What's likely to be open when I go down? And secondly, is the red car on the National still having problems?

Rollercoaster will probably be closed.

Rides you will find closed, more than likely:

Rollercoaster
Gold Mine
Trauma Towers
Impossible ("queue"/museum open, but ride closed)
Space Invader
Noah's Ark

Plus possibly A.N. Other attraction.

Big Dipper is open, RollerCoaster is SBNO. However, RC and Gold Mine have both passed H&S inspections so CAN be used if the need arrises (like when the Big Dipper was closed to have an on ride photo fitted) however, I'd expect the RC to be closed.

Red can on the nash s still to win its first race of the season.

Dan, the Haunted Swing has now re-opened. H&S no longer allow it to go upside down, or use the middle seats.

Love Pleasure Beach... "if the need arises" - so is being a major theme/amusement park not a good enough need?

Apparantly Busch Gardens have closed Sheikra - however they will operate it "if the need arises"

I agree entirley, dont shoot the messanger!

I do take some comfort from the fact that they are keeping both RC and GM in operational condition, which shows they will be running the rides again. Whilst I dont like the SBNO rides, its good to know that where possable, these rides will oepn when either demand is there, or another ride is down.

Better than just saying there shut, deal with it.

Just got back from the Pleasure Beach, had a pretty good time and the rain held off for most of the day! RC was closed again (as expected) today but Gold Mine was open. This was apparantly to do with the bad weather forecasted for the day. The ride op told us (in between mocking me for my Villa shirt) so I took that as being correct.

The park was fairly busy today with fairly long queues on Big Dipper and the Wild Mouse. PMBO had 2 trains running as did Infusion meaning these were pretty dead.

Nash didn't open until 6-6.30pm and shut along with the rest of the park at 7.00pm. We made it onto the last train of the day. We were very pleased with this as it was one of the main rides we wanted to go on. We were in the blue train racing the red train. We won by a massive margin so I guees this problem with the red train is still happening.
Thanks for riding the Runaway Minetrain, we hope you enjoyed your trip. Choo! Choo!

My fav bit of the Big One is the hang time at the top the first drop, after that I find the ride meh! Its too rough. Although anyones first time on it including mine, I thought that it was class. The ride would have been so much better if it was smoother.

Oh god it's not

Sat at the back of the old drop was horrible, it's bad now, Imagine being thrown violently to the right at that speed. That's one bad thing I remember about the ride. They had to do it anyway as some people got whiplash.

I'm going to The Pleasure Beach tomorrow for my annual trip there. Does anyone know if Bling has re-opened yet? I absolutely love that ride!

I'm in the middle of watching that documentary from 1998 which was posted a few pages back. Amanda Thompson doesn't come across as being very friendly at all, and although I'm liking most of the new stuff she has invested in over the last year (cheers for the photos), she really cannot be treating her staff like crap... I wonder if she has taken a differnet approach since becoming the General Manager?

Tue Aug 11, 2009 9:16 pm

One of my cab drivers just heard on Talksport there has been an incident at Pleasure Beach with a big dipper?? Nothing on Sky yet? Any truth in it?

Update

A quick Twitter search gave me

"Mass gathering of police cars, ambulances and fire engines at Blackpool Pleasure Beach..." (http://twitter.com/pipsar6)
