Gah! This totally passed me by (as I'm sure it did many other, hence the bump - imagine posting such things on Alton Towers opening weekend :P )! Absolutely incredible pictures those :D

What strikes me is the ground hugging nature of most of the track. Should really have a bit of speed about its chops.

There are some more recent pictures here from the 26th. They're nowhere near as good as the ones in the above post, but I particularly like this one, presumably showing the station fly-over being built.

Full credit obviously to... whichever funky Dutch cat took all these.

I'm starting to get really, really excited about this ride (although at the moment, Efteling looking like a construction site of any kind is profoundly depressing). Once its bedded in a bit, the trio of DVH, J&D and Python (yes, even Python) will look fantastic. Efteling (for some inexplicable reason) is about the only park I can think of for whom the 'all coasters in one place' set up seems right.

The ride seems all the better when viewed as what it is. A direct replacement for Pegasus - a junior woodie let us not forget. It should be fast and thrilling - more so than Pegasus - but not so much as to put off younger visitors. Also, it will beat Pegasus visually hands down.

I can't wait to get my bum on her (2011 hopefully).

Couldn't agree more Gloomy Dude. The 8 meter high animatronic dragon that will attack the trains won't hurt either. It'll undoubtedly be amazing. :D

Trying to plan a trip with my girlfriend just now for the end of the summer to hopefully get on it.

Here we have the clearest overview of the finished product yet. (in my opinion)
It's from 10/04/2010

Here we have another lovely collection of snaps from 11/04/2010

And from one of those, you'll also see we have July 1st pencilled in for an opening date.

Full credit again to the Dutch :)

Yup, nice to see they seem to be confident about July 1st, seeing as it was postponed from June 1st a while back.

Love the first Anton Pieck style walls going up. :)

Efteling: Aquaruna 2012, Hartenhof 2015.

Tue May 25, 2010 10:03 pm

Efteling have announced plans for a €42.5million (£36million) Dark Ride named "Hartenhof" to open in 2012. This staggering project dwarfs anything built in Europe outside of Disneyland Paris. In context, they could have TWO Black Mamba's or TWO Icelands/Blue Fires however the cost of it is still dwarfed by Tower of Terror at DLP.

What the ride will be remains unknown, presumably a custom dark ride. Could this rival Darkastle or Spiderman or Harry Potter and, at such a price, is it a risk? Why put all their eggs in one basket when for that amount of money they could build loads more?

Efteling is already renowned for some of Europes best dark rides including Dreamflight, Fata Morgana and Villa Volta.

All of this certainly makes the worlds #2 attraction operator look like childs play!  <!-- s:lol: --><!-- s:lol: -->

Wow!

Absolutely incredible and I hope to get to Efteling soon. Looks like a great park and I wish that kind of money was put in to dark rides in this country. The last actually very good dark ride in the UK that I can think of is Hex! And even that is not a "traditional" dark ride and is actually only a very small part "ride"

Does anyone else think a Spiderman type ride would be perfect at the Towers? Yes it'd cost the same as a new major coaster, but in my opinion at least, it'd be worth it.
If you go down to the Towers today, you\'d better ride Th13teen. :P

Where the ride will be, what is there now? I hope nothing of value will be lost.

Well I hope for this money it is the world's best dark ride. It should blow Harry Potter absolutely out the water, due to general European (and Efteling's!) greater creativity at these things and that they don't have to pay for any rights.

I really think it's possible in a few years that Efteling will become the world's best theme park. In fact I'm certain of it. I just hope they get a big well-themed steel, maybe like Black Mamba.

Anyone know what Hartenhof means? Still, they should have called it Hindhaugh...

I think with Efteling, they have suddenly realised that Europa-Park, Disneyland Paris and Phantasialand have been building stuff lately. And now, they really need to aswell.

I'm excited for this... Europe is really moving up in the world in terms of coasters, I'd like to think that in a few years Europe will start rivalling America in terms of theme parks with DLP, Europa, Efteling, Phantasialand and all the others that we all know and love so well!

WOW that is a huge amount of money on one ride! Just think what that kind of money would do for some of our smaller parks?!?

It's not a coaster, it's a dark ride.

Oh my lord! Joris & de Draak hasn't even opened yet, and we find this out.

All those years of Efteling barely investing have clearly paid off. Wow! Wow! Wow!

Efteling's track record, combined with this sort of funding almost certainly can't fail. What a gobsmackingly, astronomical wodge of dosh. I can't wait to see this develop. Hopefully it won't be replacing any of their existing dark rides (although I could live without Carnival Festival - a slightly less wrist slashing version of It's a Small World).

I really don't mean to gush, but I bloody love Efteling!
