Usually, but DMP have two of the best, high quality flat rides in the UK.

They do indeed, but only because they don't/didn't have the money to install anything more substantial.

Towers is still the better themepark, its ride hardware and theming is still better than anything else in the UK.. it just seems more and more that they are relying on attractions from the previous decade to keep them as the best.

The trouble for Drayton and the like is towers just need two good seasons to wipe the floor with other parks... drayton and the like would need 5 amazing seasons with towers doing nothing.

Towers for me, Main reason is the coasters! Whenever I go to a park its all about the coasters! If I get chance to go on a flat I will. Last year I went to thorpe for the 1st time, All I did was ride the coasters and I was more than happy with that...

So for this thread Its Alton every single time

...yet. I'm holding out a lot of hope for the 2013 coaster project. It's obvious that DMP are really trying hard, so top marks for that :)

On topic: It's a tough choice, but I'm going to have to go with Alton Towers every time. It's not just the world class coasters, but the beautiful scenery and atmosphere that other parks seem to lack.

I would have to say if I didn't have a annual pass I wouldn't be able 2 afford to go to Alton Towers this year. I know Drayton Manor put there prices up but now they do offer 2 for 1 offers so its £16 each. To Alton Towers built Nemesis both were as good as this each but the big different is that Drayton spend up to 3 million on there main rides but Alton spend 12 to 15 million.

I'd expect there is a path underneath that bit and the safety netting is there to stop loose articles on riders potentially dropping below. :)

I do like both parks but if I had to choose it would be Alton Towers. I've been to Drayton since 1989 or 1990, and Alton since 1997. I even try and go to both parks in the same year if I can. Been doing that a few times every year for many years (well not been to Alton since 2009) Already been to Drayton a few weeks ago and trying to go to Alton very soon.

I recieved this email earlyer from Colin Bryan about the new hotel. I will upload the picture when im hole tommorow.

Everyone, this picture is how we will paint all 11 of our Thomas and Friends rooms in the Hotel which opens on 15th August. Each Room will have a DIFFERENT engine in the main picture. All bunk beds have a twin DVD main picture. All bunk beds have a twin DVD TV on each bed at feet, and a Thomas engine on the head board Of the 150 rooms this is a small percentage, more themed rooms will follow when more themed rooms will follow when customer requests are analysed. Within the Foyer is a one and a half metre across Carousel with 12 individually across Carousel with 12 individually modelled Horses, seating the Fat and Thin Controllers and 6 other characters, together with Thomas pulling Annie and Clarabelle Percy pulling coal trucks. A fat controller water fountain is in the Garden. water fountain is in the Garden. Various Theatres and Character Breakfasts will be presented throughout the morning and evening.

Reading that interview was a little like being on drugs.

I'm sure children will love the engine-themed rooms.

Sounds like it'll be great for kids. Character breakfasts and a carousel inside the hotel?
Love the sound of a fat controller fountain!

I'm really hoping that in future developments Drayton maintain the level of themeing the likes of Ben 10 have. Maybe then we'll see even more themed rooms appearing in the hotel which tie in with park attraction (alla ATH) It would be a bonus for both areas. Giving them good hotel room themes, and strengthening the themes and characters within the themepark.

Drayton have some great theming (Stormforce for example) but they lack the clearly defined themed areas which Towers have. There isn't a strong level of constancy, if that makes sence. At least there wasn't until Ben 10 arrived. Provided they can tie the whole area into a strong Cartoon Network theme it should work great :D

Great work though Drayton. The mock up of the rooms look great. I think that if all continues like this the hotel may warrent its fairly high price tag :D

Oh the continued perception that kids enjoy themselves if you shove a TV infront of them absolutely anywhere.

I'm sure they'd be far more fascinated being with their family, and having fun.. and viewing the actual room, than having a telly at the end of their bed, but hey ho.

Love the absolutely piss-poor statements from Drayton senior people. I love the... uniqueness ;)
