if you asked this five years ago i would have said Drayton manor, but now it has to be Flamingo land

FL have put a lot of effort into the park recently and DM just dont seem to be maintaining their rides

They are both as good as each other, although park presentation at Flamingo is better. The rollercoasters at Flamingoland, even before Mumbo Jumbo, vastly outclass those of Drayton's too. However, although staff at DMP aren't great, those at Flamingo can be dire. Also, DMP have Apocalypse and Maelstrom which are awesome.

I cannot choose, but if I had to go to one of them tomorrow, it would be Flamingoland - just because I prefer the rollercoasters.

I do like Maelstrom (excuss me if I mispelt it) but Stormforce 10 is probably my favorite ride out of them all.

Apocalypse by a clear mile, Shockwave coming in second and Maelstrom towards the back as it's crap

Maelstrom for me.
But if only those restraints would lock properly I'd go for G-Force. (well, maybe if they installed an escalator as well!)

^^ If you include the bounty, you have to include blade. Anyway, I think Shockwave is the best followed closely my maelstrom then apocalypse a distant third as I have ridden it countless times. G Force is just awful.

Apocalypse comes close, but I absolutely love Shockwave so I have to vote for that! Stand up rides have an awesome feeling and I wish there were more of them around.

Both are equal for different reasons. Drayton for the magnificent out-disney-disney Thomasland, FL for its improvements over the last five years. Neither are perfect, but frankly are a damn sight more fun than some of their bigger profile peers...

ooohhh, tricky. I think I'd plump for 'Mingoland. Simply because I've only been there once, and haven't seen the bad side of it yet. I've been to Drayton enough times to know how irritating it can be!

As Some of you know i co run the fansite Drayton Manor Plus and every year Colin Bryan the parks Managing Director answers our questions - so here is what was asked this year.

What can we expect at the park in 2010?

NEW 150 BEDROOM HOTEL.

With pirate adventure been 20 years old next year will it get a make
over with new scenes added&all robots repaired during the closed
season? Also what's happened to the ghost pirates scene at the end of
the ride?

IT CAUGHT FIRE!
New attraction maybe in here for 2011 but not much else.
Yes it'S 20 and shows it.

What's happening now with the sea lion section of the zoo? And are
there any plans for the Zoo in the next few years?

yes. New addition to Lemurs walk where dinos were, Dinosaurs reopening next to Spencer

Will the Tilting effects return to Sombrero's and Drunken Barrels?

This one in D/B is fixed the Sombreo is intermittent.

With Thomas land nearly open all year around is there any plans in the
future to open selected rides around the rest of the park or is this
not possible due to H&S and Maintenance?

NEITHER... No is the answer... Selected rides will be ONLY open during Thomas Xmas. UP the hill, ie; D/B's, Haunting?, Shootout, 4D and Pirates Bothe Adv and Jolly B. Dodgens may be also. Food outlets are increasing as well.

The Electricity Machine in the G-force Q_Line has not been in
operation for a couple of years now will this return at some point?

No. Decibels too high for safe use.

With the damage teens have done to the haunting, queue lines and other
attactions do you think the park need more cctv cameras and more
Security walking round the park?

Maybe.?

How successful has the 2009 season been for the park, has there been
an increase in Visitor Numbers?

No. 0.08% down 3580 less than the previous year and that yr was new all time record, 60th year is hopefully going to beat that.

Does the park have a 5 or 10 year plan or does the park decide on
attractions on a year by year basis?

No it doesn't decide year on year to fit new in, planners wont allow and hotel is priority this next two yr, and yes it has a 5/10 yr plan.

Just a small insight into Drayton Manor

Totally agreed. Unless it's an interview that 'G-Force' has badly re-written.

Incase anyone is intrested Really Rollercoaster Forums is currently running an 'Ask Your Questions To..' with Drayton Manor, this should help you get an aswer straight from the park's management team! :D

Cheers Joe, saved me the bother of writing it out. :)

I don't think those that are responsible for Really Rollercoaster are in a position to criticize anyone for their grammatical or presentational skills.

Very few points of interest from Drayton Manor there! The hotel was always expected to occupy most of their time and budget for the next few years. Are they building just the hotel, or progressing with the water park plans too?

Why is a 13 year old 1331 TTF'er pretending to be Drayton's MD and what's he done with the real one? Seriously that's the most unprofessional thing I've ever read. Was he very drunk when he wrote it...? Almost every answer has numerous spelling errors or txt speak. Or RANDOM capitalised WORDS.

What can we expect at the park in 2010?

NEW 150 BEDROOM HOTEL.

...HE SHOUTED LOUDLY, ACROSS THE ROOM.

With the damage teens have done to the haunting, queue lines and other
attactions do you think the park need more cctv cameras and more
Security walking round the park?

Maybe.?

"Hey Ray, I think you're really cute, you wanna go the high school dance with me...?
"Maybe? What's it to you? I'll do what I want, woman!"
"Oh Ray, I thought you were nice!" *runs away sobbing*
"...Treat 'em mean, keep 'em keen...?"

With pirate adventure been 20 years old next year will it get a make
over with new scenes added&all robots repaired during the closed
season? Also what's happened to the ghost pirates scene at the end of
the ride?

IT CAUGHT FIRE!

What the hell do you mean by that? It just seems a balent stsb at Really Rollercoaster, when someone (Dan I believe) simply critzized the interview with Colin, G-Force posted. I have no idea why you have to say that, people are not welcome to critize a park's response to questions just because RR possibly has one or two spelling errors. :| More to the point really, how the hell has the topic turned to this? The only mention of RR from what I saw was me stating that are forum had a new feature to ask your questions to the park, it was hardly like I was being compleltly off topic. Just offering people an insight into the park. :|

BTW, what's actually wrong with Really Rollercoaster's grammatical and presentaional skills.

Sam! says thanks! to haydn! for this post

Sam, how can you thank that post... and then agree with the point that I made? :?

[spoiler:326n1itj]I know really that it was because you'll thank any post that has a dig at RR in it, but I just thought I'd make my point. :)[/spoiler:326n1itj]
