Having compared before and after pictures, I can safely conclude that the Lost Continent was vastly superior themed than Harry Potter is. The only saving grace is the Forbiddden Journey, which I hope is as spectacular as people make it out to be.

Because you can totally deduce that from photos.

Apart from the Dueling Dragons queue, LC was nothing special, probably the weakest area of IOA.

No, I have been to IOA before the expansion so I do remember how good LC was. Lost Continent is/was amazing, one of the best themed environments in the world. Worst area? Rubbish. Just because it's not based on an IP.

Of course nothing looks as good in pictures as it does in the flesh, but Forbidden Journey aside, the rest of the area just looks like a load of fluff with two mediocre themed inverters and a load of overpriced shops. Effectively it's just one new ride.

Hogsmeade just looks so out of place in Florida, plus it isnt as well themed or realistic as it should be. Of course I am basing that on pictures. Harry Potter is excellent, but it annoys me when amazing creative themes like LC are destroyed.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is the most immersive themed environment I have ever visited. It is realistic and has lots of great attention to detail.

I'm sure anyone else who has visited will agree with me.

Agreed. The Harry Potter area is essentially theme park perfection. It works so well and is 100% authentic to the books/films.

The part of Lost Continent that it replaced was a bit rubbish to be fair. It was essentially a wide open plaza with a few trees, a restaurant which was nice but nothing outstanding and a rollercoaster entrance.

I agree. The Wizarding World is utterly sublime.

Yeah, it's worth noting that the excellent rock theming around Poseidon etc is still there. I'd also agree with the above that WWoHP is probably the best themed area I've been to, plus, while Hogsmeade is essentially a load of overpriced shops, there's always seemed to be things going on. Then Hogwards itself is pretty spectacular, with the queueline inside the castle for FJ being something a bit special, not to mention that the ride ain't too bad either ;)

Score! The loss of a legendary ride and more interactive shops!

WWoHP absolutely blew me away. I thought the standard of themeing around the whole of IoA was amazing, but that was at the top of the heap. Absolutely stunning, every single inch of it. The queueline for Forbidden Journey has to be seen to be believed.

It now seems a lot more likely that Jaws will be replaced by Harry Potter.

Project 722 seems to be linked to the Jaws demolition and everyone working on it has links to Harry Potter and the Wizarding World.

Based on Universal's ignorance of the other areas since Potterville opened you did get the impression that they were getting in Potter's way.
At least that would be confirmed if this is true, especially if it is just a transport link to Potterville Main Street.

Video of enthusiasts and skippers having a laugh on one of the last JAWS rides.

Brought tears to my eyes.

JAWS had a sense of reality, immediacy and the personal touch that modern dark rides like Spiderman could never hope to match.  :(

This is a very interesting read from someone who claims to have seen the plans for the new Harry Potter land on the Jaws site, with the main attraction being a coaster themed to Gringotts bank (which will feature a tilting/dropping section of track)

If the plans are true it looks like Universal aren't happy having the number 1 dark ride they also want the best dark-ride coaster!

This is what can happen when you don't have a theme park monopoly running everything.

It'll be stunning and it's excellent for Britain that the ride will be set in London - I suspect the facade to the rest of the park will be a version of Charing Cross Road with a mocked up Big Ben poking up over the roof tops. If The Hogwarts Express thing happens I wouldn't be surprised to see some kind of St Pancras / Kings Cross facade too - perhaps the "Disaster!" subway ride could be linked up as one of the tube lines! :P

Now why do we not have a Harry Potter theme park of this level of detail in the UK?
It would be perfect!
It could be set in Cumbria or around that area for the mountains, and they could build Hogwarts on a small hill, like in the films.
You could have multiple rides, as well as a complete Diagon Alley and Hogsmede, which are linked together by the Hogwarts Express!
Why are they building another Harry Potter theme park in Hollywood as well!
This is cruelty!
