Islands of Adventure: Marvel Superhero Island refurbishment

Wed May 13, 2015 9:35 pm

Source: http://www.orlandounited.com/forums/sho ... ion/page30

It's been rumoured in various forums that the entire Marvel superhero themed land of Islands of Adventure is getting a major overhaul, with a lot of speculation concerning The Hulk in particular. Staff on that ride are confirmed to have been told they are to be relocated elsewhere on resort prior to Halloween Horror Nights. Not much is known yet but it's believed that The Hulk coaster will receive a major refurbishment soon, including a possible retrack of some areas and replacement of the launch system from the existing drive tyres with a LSMs. This seems plausible due to B&Ms recent breakthrough in launches with Thunderbird this year.

What are your thoughts on this, what would you like to see happen in this refurbishment?

I know that B&M ain't happy that the dragon challenge coaster doesn't duel anymore. That's why Universal have added Airport style scanners on all there coasters and forcing guests to put all items into the free lockers. After this test and if it works well we could be seeing the coasters duel again. Onto Marvel rumours point that they could be removing Dr Dooms free fall ride.

If they do duel again Uni could face a hefty lawsuit.

Volcano Bay - Universal Orlando Resort - 2017

Thu May 28, 2015 6:15 pm

Universal Orlando today officially announced they are adding another park to their popular resort. Volcano Bay is the name of Universal Orlando’s new water park, set to open in 2017. Already under construction clearly visible from I-4 near the Cabana Bay hotel, Volcano Bay joins Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure to make Universal Orlando a 3-park destination. Volcano Bay will feature unique attractions and places for relaxation amidst a theme of tropical islands.

No further details or specific attractions have been revealed about Volcano Bay, though a closer look at the artwork reveals beaches, observation areas, and plenty of slides – including one tube that shoots right through the giant volcano

Isn't it 4 parks because they have Wet n Wild?

Still not as many parks as SeaWorld, they have 5: SeaWorld, Aquatica, Discovery Cove, Busch Gardens and Adventure Island :)
SeaWorld has rescued over 35,000 animals in need![/i]

Whilst Wet n Wild is owned by Universal it isn't officially part of the Universal Studios Orlando complex itself.

There are rumours that Universal may be using the following patented technology for Volcano Bay.

System and method for providing water park beach visual effects - This could be a way of making it look like the beach was lava.

Articulated waterslide

System and method for generating waves in multiple directions

All of these would certainly make the park one of the better waterparks around and will surely be a big pull as Universal look to improve visitor numbers at their parks.

Orlando United has quite a lot of information on Volcano Bay and as always Teebin and Jungle Skip (the insiders) have released some interesting and very exciting details.

Jungleskip has said

"As the sun goes down, the volcano will erupt as it does during the day, but this time it will be more powerful/violent. As the geyser erupts, this time it's "lava", not water. As it cascades down the mountain, it turns all the water in the park to "lava" (done with LED lighting and stuff like that). At this time the park's background music and effects change to match the new "dangerous" setting"

This could potentially be an amazing visual effect and could tie in with the beach visual effect patent as the whole beach could turn lava red.

The only piece of news that has been released is the that the park is due to get a "HydroMAGNETIC MAMMOTH" slide which is an LIM launched slide, more information can be found here on that.

It would be cool if the water heated up the pool. Would it be possible for them to give tours in the volcano or even a water slide through it?? :D

The concept image does show a slide through the volcano, although of course details of the specific rides are yet to be officially announced.

Cant remember the exact figure without reading through the whole thread again but I've got a feeling it was said that there was going to be 7 slides in the volcano.

Halloween Horror Nights 25 - Orlando

Mon Jun 15, 2015 5:32 pm

There are few changes to this years events.... (Source hhnrumors.com)

Tickets to break the $100 mark
9 houses (usually 8)
Jack's got a new look (this years icon)
30 nights of Horror Nights

Rumoured mazes...

The Walking Dead – Parade Building
Freddy vs Jason – SS?
Insidious – Tent 2
Scream – Tent 3
American Werewolf in London – SS22
Hallow’d Past 2 – SS25
Alice in Wonderland 3D – Tent 1
Run – Disaster Queue
Blizzard (Which I’m told is a Body Collectors and Shadybrook mash-up) – SS25
Also rumoured is an up-charge maze in a hotel...

SS - Sound Stage

Rumoured Scare Zones

Plaza of the Stars – Scary Tales (Cough! Alton Towers Cough!) meets Steampunk
New York – Psychoscareapy – Inmates have escaped and taken over a fall festival type event and have killed all the carnies. Supposedly this zone will include a costume contest throughout the night
Central Park – This will feature the traditional central park theming. Expect to see kids, pumpkins and Halloween origins.
Hollywood – Photo op “Icon Zone” much like “7” and “Face Off”
San Francisco (I’m told this zone was originally to take place at Mel’s. ) – All Night Die In. Half the cast will be black and white movies and the other in color. Similar to 2009’s Horrorwood.
South St – Hellgate. I’m told that this theme may have already been scrapped.

Rumoured Shows

The Wild Wild Wild West Stunt Show – Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure
An American Tail Theatre – I’m told no RHPS this year
Mel’s/Central Park – Jack will have a show (probably carnival of carnage style)
Also a mini-show (costume contest, similar to Purge) will take place in Psychoscareapy

Rumoured Roaming Actors

Apparently there will be 2 or 3 groups of roaming actors...

Male Chainsaw Gang
Female Chainsaw Gang
???

This years event is set to be the best one yet and I'm sure it won't disappoint with the strong line-up!
Please discuss this years event below!
