Doubt it will be that big, seems a bit extreme, but a hyper-looper-wing-rider would be insane.

Dollywood is in the middle of nowhere (Americanly-speaking) is it? I.e. not justifiable to go there solely...fuuuuu ahhhh.

Probably not solely, but it's damn well worth going... The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful...

It's about 3/4 hours drive up to Kings Island if I recall... And I think sommat similar to Busch Gardens Europe...

Seems like Dollywood and Thorpe Park are at it again. Saw and Mystery Mine are amongst the best two themed EuroFighters around and it now seems they're going head to head on the Wing Rider front. 2012 could be an interesting year!

Personally, my money is on Dolly, she's a trusty reliable old bird.

Head to Head?

Whatever floats your boat... Since the couple of thousand miles and completely different audiences, theme and atmosphere means that they are about as similar as Fuji-Q and Disneyland...

Head to head "on the wingrider front"

I don't think he was implying they were directly competing as actual parks/businesses.

Still though, I highly doubt that Dollywood are getting one because Thorpe is...

Besides, they built Mystery Mine 2 years before Saw opened... So they've never gone 'head to head' in any sense already... Just makes no sense to use such a term for parks that are in no real direct competition between each other...

Why must it always be a competition between parks anyway? Does it really matter which version of this is better?

Taking things a little too seriously there?

I was merely making reference to the fact that Mystery Mine and Saw are often mentioned in the same sentence, as they are without a doubt amongst the best presented Eurofighter rides. Plus, when Saw’s initial plans were released, there was a lot of comparison’s with Mystery Mine as the themes appeared very similar. This was of course before the actual theme/name was announced.

As the park are now likely to both install Wing Rider attractions, there are guaranteed to be comparisons in the future. Considering Dollywood has pulled some amazing theming out of the bag in recent years, and the plans for Thorpes coaster also shows potentially impressive theming, there is again a good chance they will be comparable in visual presentation.

And, for the record. I never suggested or stated that Dollywood are installing one because Thorpe are, or vice versa. It is also pretty obvious that the parks will not be competing for the same guests (however thanks for feeling the need to enlighten me with this), however it is obvious the rides will be compared. That said, the parks will no doubt still be looking to earn browning points within the industry. Parks may not all compete with each other, due to geographical limitations, but that doesn't mean they don't each aspire to be as good as their international counterparts.

Also. Why the need for competition? Competition evokes innovation. Innovation brings you new and exciting technologies and rides. Fact.

It's in Hansa-Park, North Germany.

And it's totally awesome! The queue alone is a work of art.

Super video

oh dollywood, one day I will get to you.

Isnt it a gay mans dream, dolly, superb theme park, beautiful setting and an obscene amount of food.

I have never heard a bad word mentioned about the place, and now with a B&M wingrider I think they may have just ticked every last box in becoming the best independent park at the moment. (apologies Europa).

I'll be watching this with great anticipation, hoping they theme to their usual standards and make use of the brilliant surrounding areas.
I'm thinking of an Air themed coaster, built in 13s woodland area, with a few added lakes, waterfalls and cliff-faces to rush by... what i can hope.

You have never heard a bad word about Dollywood?
No Problem my Friend:

Its one of the baddest Themeparks i have ever visited.
Mystery Mine looks really good and have great Effects, but the ride comfort is terrible.
The Thunderhead is really good, and the big Arrow Coaster Tennesse Tornado is also funny.
But the other Rides are not really the best, and of curse not for the Price of the Park.
And the Management of the Park is really ****, on the Day of my Visit there are not enogh people in the park and they close the Park around 3PM because there is MAYBE a Lightning 60Miles away. 60 ! MILES ! AWAY ! MAYBE !
You can imagine there is nothing, blue sky, best weather, no rain, no lightning, but not enough poeples in the park.

After this visit i say: I dont return to this ******g countryc**t Place, but with the big Wingrider.. I think yes, i have to Return.

Dolly Parton’s Dollywood bans ‘gay marriage’ t-shirt

Dolly Parton is a strong supporter of gay rights
A lesbian couple have complained after one of them was ordered to reverse a t-shirt with a gay slogan at country legend Dolly Parton’s theme park.

Olivier Odom and Jennifer Tipton visited Dollywood’s waterpark Splash Country recently but say park staff objected to Ms Odom’s ‘marriage is so gay’ t-shirt and asked her to turn it inside out to avoid offending other visitors.

The couple, who were with friends and their friends’ children, said they decided to file a complaint later, rather than make a scene.

Ms Tipton told Associated Press: “That’s what we found so offensive — that he said it was a family park. Families come in a wide range of definitions these days and we were with our family.”

Ms Odom said marriage equality would not happen if people “sit at home quietly” instead of making their views known.

The couple say Dollywood should review its policies.

Dollywood spokesman Pete Owens said the park welcomes everyone but visitors are asked to cover clothing or tattoos that could offend others.

Dolly Parton has a huge gay following and often speaks out on gay rights issues.

Speaking in 2009 about gay marriage, she said: “I always say, ‘Sure, why can’t they get married? They should suffer like the rest of us do.”

Dollywood 2012: B&M wingrider?

Wed Aug 31, 2011 10:22 pm

Have B&M got a deal on certain paint colours recently. Lots of grey and brown new B&M's, and this one looks like it will be the exact same colour scheme as Asterix' new coaster!
I look forward to the announcement on Sunday :)

Dollywood have uploaded another clue to their teaser website - it does very much look like a Wingrider/4D Coaster of some sort judging off the lift hill steps... very exciting!*

*Shame I'll never get to ride it though.. :P

I was lucky enough to visit Dollywood this summer while working at a summer camp in Tennessee. I really enjoyed the park but everything said in this thread is true and i'd have preferred to explore and spend more time there, but I went with an American girl I was seeing who wasn't all that in to theme parks. Suprisingly from looking at them, Mystery Mine is the least comfortable of the coasters, but it doesn't stop it being a cracking ride. If anyone wants to hear more or has questions feel free to ask.

America never ceases to amaze me! For such a supposedly advanced and developed nation they are very backwards in some respects.

As far as this coaster goes I think it's a fair assumption that it'll be a Wing Walker. The photo of the lift stairs look very wide. It's ojne of the things which makes me laugh about Raptor really. The stairs are so wide it looks a bit daft :P If it was a Dive Machine then surely the stairs would be narrower like Oblivion's, unless we see a floorless model?

Personally I'm inclined to believe it's a Wing Walker. It would seem parks throughout the world have been itching to get one, but until last year they only really had Intamin's offerings (Which after Furious Baco I think put them all off :P ) So B&M have perfected the model, and everyone is pouncing on the chance of getting on! Needless to say I think Wing Walker is going to be the next big thing for B&M :D
