There appears to be panelling in place on the roof structure for the station.

That's a large section beam accross the top, looks like it's designed to carry a fair amount of weight!

TowersTimes News has just posted a new construction update showing just how much has been done to the metal framework for the speculated theming feature, as well as the wooden framework being put in place for the brake run and other sections of track in the station. Enjoy :)

I honestly think they are throwing us off with the launch/magnetic lift hill. As everyone seems to be focussing on this..

My gut tells me that it will be mine based themed. Also the first drop will go underground and not be a covered structure. This will reduce noise impact even more...

Also that metal structure is looking impressive. It's huge!!

If this is a mine themed coaster, it will raise new questions in the future of the Runaway Mine Train. I would have thought it illogical for Alton to build a mine themed coaster as Runaway Mine Train interacts with the Congo River Rapids and removing the Runaway Mine Train would leave the Congo River Rapids in a funny position, basicly just taking up valuable space... who knows at this point! Does any one know at what point in the Smiler construction we were aware of the theme?

I agree as it wouldn't make sense to have two coasters with the same theme so hopefully it will fit into its area with a suitable theme.  There's certainly been a lot going on with construction and it will be interesting when more wood appears :)

I don't see why they'd be throwing us off. It makes sense to ruduce noise and the rest is just speculation, so Alton haven't really done anything to throw people off. Also not sure what you mean by the drop being underground, as we can see the base of the drop being constructed under the theming element! :P

Anyway, back to construction!

There are quite a few struts/bracket points on that top section of the structure.. weird angles as well, anyway.. with the current version of the plans, is there a definite yes or no on the Themeing Envelope 1?

It would appear the station is starting to get a roof

Also thanks to @Nomis_92 there is a lot of metal heading off in all directions as can just about be seen from the below picture at the upper most track pass through.

It's definitely exciting to keep an eye on the less geometrical, more interesting shapes of the metal structure. They give us little glimpses of character among all the dirt and straight lines which make up most of the rest of the site at the moment :D

Thanks for all the photos everyone, it's great to see.

Looks like all the L-brackets are bolted down to the foundations now as well, hopefully see some wood going on next!

My guess is that them metal bits pointing in all directions are going to be loose bits of wicker from the wicker man. Like he's being torn apart as the trains fly through him.

I'm guessing from the last photo Owen has supplied us means that not all foundations are done.. however it's likely we'll start seeing vertical construction at the top of site now.. well let's hope anyway :P

Photos posted by Theme Park Worldwide on Facebook show the work taking place on site today, with the theming structure continuing to progress, brackets in place on the foundation for the turn in the previous location of The Flume's station, and roof trusses being set in place for the maintenance building.

Is it me or does the station fit in with KC, because to me it does! :D

Also does the Pre-Show room look outdoors? I can see an outdoor Pre-Show being quite interesting...
I don't think thd Planning app shows an outdoor pre-show though..
