What should Enterprise and/or Submission be replaced with?

Tue Jun 29, 2010 3:00 pm

People have talked about them leaving for a while but they soldier on. When they do eventually kick the bucket, what will Alton Towers replace them with?

Personally I think one of these would be great new additions:

Hi guys, first post so be gentle lol

Chaos was a maintenance nitemare for Cedar Point + the Zamperla one isnt made anymore, a Giant Frisbee would be great but with planning restrictions it`d never happen. something along the lines of a Zamperla Energy Storm or Zamperla Disc-O could do the job tho

Hey I'm new as well :D

Shame they don't make the Zamperla anymore :( . The Chaos ride would be awesome if they could get it to work! The Vortex style ride would be great but I can understand what with the height restrictions, etc... Thought I'd just mention it. Maybe someone could make a smaller one for Alton as I've only seen one as small as 20 people with a maximum height of 60 ft. Perhaps a 32 seater and only 55 ft would be cool but I'm probably just dreaming  .

I'm going to be kind and give you a positive point since my first point was negative  !

Cool ideas, but there's a few flaws with each of these rides.

1. Those Chaos rides are notorious for being a maintanence nightmare, see Lightwater Valley's 'Hornet's Nest'. Also they're old technology really.
2. That Top Star Tour thing looks exciting but it's really crap to ride. It's just painful and boring. Also very ugly rides.
3. Too tall!

A Full sized Huss Breakdance, operated on Manual ONLY with all the limitations removed (like the travelling models)

I still think that should replace the lava lump + trampolines, and give it the name dynamo! Maybe something else could go in x-sector...

That said, I'd much rather any new rides are placed in one of the empty spots on park - aside from lava lump we've got the BH tent, ug swinger site and soak-a-saurus. I don't see any real need to replace enterprise, though submission would be no big loss IMO

The Zamperla Top Star looks much the same as KMG's Move It rides, which have been suggested a few times for X-Sector. A Frisbee or Gyro Swing in a pit to get around the height problem is also a nice suggestion that comes around every once in a while.

There was an idea called 'The Shredder' which was a HUSS Frisbee in the ground for the Forbidden Valley.

To be honest I don't want Enterprise to go as it was quite a good ride. The capacity for it isn't great though and the queues for it get ridiculous :( . It does have a better capacity compared to Submission though so I think that should go first.

The Chaos at Southport Pleasure Land was terrible, always breaking down.
I don't much care for those spinning flats, they don't seem to suit alton. They always remind me of a travelling fair. They should try for something more unique. What I do not know though.

This is my idea for a Flat Ride. I originally though it up as a replacement for the Blade but I'll show you for this topic too. I created this quickly just to give a better idea of what I was on about:
Image
Take a look at a 360 degree protractor and you'll realise it would make quite a good flat ride. Imagine a giant spinning blade with seats both sides facing each other and the ride spins around slowly either way and gets faster and faster. The underground part where guests are hung upside down could have strobe lights as sparks and add to the theme/style of the ride. Some chainsaw or cutting sound effects could be played along with an intense drum beat with a tempo that increases along with the increasing speed of the ride.

This is also another one of my ideas; a Double Top Spin. I'm not sure if it would be possible and it may be a bit of a gimmick. Basically, one gondola has an intense setting and the other has a more mild setting for passengers who want to experience the ride but don't want to feel ill at the end. The area it covers would be significantly bigger than a standard Top Spin and there would have to be two queues and two stations but this ride has double the capacity and appeals to a greater audience. It could be raised up and down to allow enough clearance to operate. This however would probably result in the removal of the Ripsaw which would be rather controversial. It's just an idea though. Here is the image I made using another one (sorry I had to borrow it):

What do you guys think? Feel free to point out the flaws :D !

How about a drop ride like at Thorpe Park? Or one of those things where you sit in a train and it goes round on a big circle of track, you know, "Ring of Fire", whatever it's called.

A drop ride is far too tall for Alton Towers, as it would exceed the strict height limit in the area. They can't dig downwards like the did with Nemesis and Oblivion as a solution to this problem, because it would really have to be extremely deep to fit the whole thing in. This means it would be extremely difficult to get a whole station (with easy emergency escape) underground in that small space.

Yes. Because they weren't good enough for Wardley in '94, but now they'll be a great addition...

No, he means one of these. Half pipes were not around back then. I think that you think that he is thinking of an Arrow Pipeline coaster, one of these:

A sky swat or S&S swing I personally think but as they are already at thorpe park would never ever happen! But definatly something similar to them!
