The Future of the Blade

Mon Apr 16, 2012 8:16 pm

Okay so I am sure the Blade will not be leaving the park any time soon but what do you think? Maybe a re-location or a refurbishment? Or maybe you think the Blade will leave the park? Please post ideas here. Here is what I think:

So the blade should be re-themed and put in Mutiny Bay, possibly meaning a relocation of Heave Ho in order to place the Blade and then Nemmy themed robo-arms should be put in the Blades place.

:D

I don't think the Blade will go but it's an OK ride. There's never a big queue because there's nothing very thrilling or special about it except it makes you feel queasy.

It sits nicely in FV but does need a re-paint after 30 years. Maybe place it into Mutiny Bay and snezz it up into a pirate theme? Would definitely look great then.
Theme Parks are my way of life.

Keep smiling!!! :)

I wouldn't like it in MB tbh. It would look to common as a Pirate ship. No one has ever seen a 'Pirate Ship' themed as a Blade now have they..

I think that sooner or later it will get a much needed revamp and then will be moved to Mutiny Bay. And it would make room for another good trill flat ride and would give Mutiny Bay a new family ride.

Been honest if they did plan on putting a pirate ship in Mutiny Bay they put a new 1. I do like the 1 Drayton Manor added. Everytime I go on the blade it just reminds me of the pirate ship that was in future world.

The only other place I'd suggest would be an okay place to move the Blade would be to Katanga Canyon and give it an Explorer's theme. It could make use of new land on the car park above Katanga Canyon. But there's not really much point as they'd be moving the ride only a couple of areas up into an area that's already complete, so it's best if it stays where it is. There's not really much they can replace it with at the moment... unless they could squeeze either a Mondial Revolution, Fabbri Top Swing, Zamperla Discovery or Midi Discovery? :P

I know Drayton already has one down the road (albeit bigger than the one above) but that's the only other flat ride I can think of that might fit there at the moment.

So yeah, keep the Blade as it is for now.

:)

As much as I agree with Stevie. I do believe that Alton will not do anything if The Blade stays where it is... *cough* Merlin *cough*

So Mutiny Bay in a few years time should get a new attraction and structuring some land on the Flume lake or Heave ho would be epic. We'd have to move the ops cabin though. Or it could be on the MB lake.

I think the Blade should be moved over to Mutiny Bay, placed over
the flume lake and re-themed to fit in with Mutiny Bay. The Flume
should also be themed to match Mutiny Bay, the tunnels could then
be themed with anamatronic pirates that have water cannons. I think
AT should get a half pipe coaster (but not themed as a skateboard)
to replace the Blade, i think the area would be deep enough so the
height won't be an issue.

There is nothing wrong with Blade. It is cheap to run and does a good job of offering a lesser thrill in Forbidden Valley. It got a new motor this closed season too.  :O

I thought the Blade and Ripsaw were fitted with new motors over the Closed Season

I think that they need painting and then they will look good but also I think they should be replaced by new one but at the moment a paint job will do because alton towers do not have the money to get a new ripsaw or blade.

I think not painting them has made them mature into that area well. I think they could theme the boat better as it still looks like the pirate ship without the props.

I think Ripsaw needs a future of topic, it needs some serious TLC.. You never get wet anymore! It's just kind of well... boring.

Does every single attraction needs its own 'Future' topic?
