Alton Towers 2006! Taken from Dan ATA

Thu May 19, 2005 9:02 pm

ATA was the first to bring you the news that Cred Street would be the next area of redevelopment at Alton Towers (see here), and now here's our next exclusive...

Toyland Tours is set to be rethemed to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for next year. No extra details as yet, but it's only May! I've heard rumours that there may well be a 5D cinema coming to Cred Street for next year, but it remains to be seen whether this will happen or not.

It was also revealed that Rita - Queen of Speed would probably be the last roller coaster for a few years, because the park are looking to invest in what was described as a "quantum leap" for a British theme park.

Finally, it seems that DIC are happy to invest in a third hotel - rumoured to be Casino-themed.

(Thanx to Dan ATA)

Sounds interesting but im very sad about the "Rita - Queen of Speed would probably be the last roller coaster for a few years" as i was hoping for the woodie soon :( . Third hotels sounds cool though and a 5D cinema. I will miss TLT as its a great ride but i surpose all rides have to go/be changed some time :(

Awwww. No more coasters for a few years. I guess we did have a consecutive ruch of them though. Hopefully a mass flat update is on the cards :) A woody IMO isn't a "quantum leap", so I'm kissing that amazing opertunity goodbye :( .

And Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Thinking about it, that could be an amazing ride!!! Strolling along on a chocolate themed canal. *mmm, chocolate *. Shame that it doesn't seem they're willing to do extensive rethemeing on Cred St. though. CatCF seem's to fit Cred's current presonna well enough

A 5D would be amazing. I sooo hope they make one :D :D

Why the dissapointment? Two coasters in two years is great, three would have been a bloody miricle.

Hummm, i'm not to sure that i like this or not.
AT don't normally go down the "film" route. Having said that i suppose that it is a classic book.

Although the ride experience would be very good, I would prefer something more original though, as in some idea they have made from scratch.

Very true. It's just the fact I think TTF was buzzing with hope a woody would be on the card's very soon, and this doesn't look promising at all!!!

Hopefully this "quantum leap" is that of a big one... but what could it be :?: Any companies designing new rides. Ooooo, maybe it could be a robocar coaster thing. They look cool

Robo coasters have way to low a through-put! Also, if its a "quantum leap", then its got to be something unique, or not often seen in a UK park!
What a fad.

Sorry but I have to be the cynical one here. Here's a few questions I'd like to ask:-

* Solid Evidence ? Dan's just posted a generic pic of Cred Street, i'm sure he has solid evidence because I never ever know Dan post something like this unless he knows what he's saying.

* Why everyone going mad ? We've been talking about these same ideas for months.

Oh, and thank god Rita was the last AT coaster for a while. No more woodie threads.

Its basically a leap... something about science and electrons... but its been made as a sort of catch phrase if you get what i mean!

i think it will be a good ride for the first year but what happends when the noveltly wears off of the ride? just look how long TT has been there and how out of date sonic is. in a few years the same will happen :)

"A quantum leap is the movement made by an electron within an atom which causes it to give off light energy. Somewhere along the way (possibly something to do with the 70s TV show) it seems to have become a phrase meaning the exact opposite" from ATA :)
What a fad.

Ow i see now, well lets hope its a bluming good leap any way :D Im loving the sound of a charlie and the choclit factory ride but will be said to loose TLT at the same time. Didn't TLT open the same year as Nemesis :?: If so its had a good life time and at least the actualy ride will more than likely be stopping and just a change of theme although it would be nice to have that drop added like in the jazz land plans :D
