Grr, RCT3

Thu Apr 16, 2009 11:47 pm

I'm not a noob, BUT...

haha.
Seriously though, I keep building rollercoasters and there never seems to be the option for the lift chain. I just can't find it!
I just can't get my head around this game as easy as the other ones. :(

It's directly to the right of where you choose the gradient of the track and left of where you select the banking of the track. It's a chain with an arrow point diagonally up, hope that helps. :)

Haha thank you, lets hope I can find it now!
I won't even get into the fact that I don't even know how to ride my own rides on there either, haha.
I'm so used to RCT1 & 2 it's untrue :p

Oh! I don't actually get that picture showing up..

EDIT: I just went through all the different coasters and found that the lift chain is only of some of them.. i'm so confused! XD and every time I try to make a rollercoaster that doesn't have the lift chain option, it complains at me and doesn't go anywhere.

I really am useless.

are you building in the right direction? in RCT1/2 it was easy to tell when you were working backwards, but in 3 it's very hard to see the difference. There should be a green arrow on the track for forwards, and red for backwards.

If you're still not sure, place a station piece and look for the 'traffic lights'. They should be on the left hand side of the track. Zoom in, and the red and green lights should be visible if you are facing forwards.

To ride your own tracks, click the ride to bring up its window, then click the camera icon to enter 'ridecam'.

Hope that helps :D

I finally figured it out, thank god!
Took me a bloody while though.. :p
I am now pleased with myself as I made a rollercoaster that goes through a little piratey bit and fireworks go off at the same time! magical. XD

edit: although this is a lie, I still haven't quite worked out what to do with the pools and stuff, haha.

You need to create a "changing room" and then connect a path for it for the peeps to use... then obv open it. :)

Try opening the changing room and linking it with a path. To open it click the changing room and change the red dot to green.

if you are used to RCT2 it can take a very long time to get the hang of RCT3. It took me about 6 months to work out how to shape the land!

My advice is to be patient and try some simple parks first. eventually you will be able to do this:

Also when you get good you might want some custom scenery. Especially all of shyguys stuff. And Mobyssteel jungle is essential for realistic supporting :D

Don't forget Steelworx / mouseworx!
The raw game is sadly lacking in scenery, but all those wonderful genius types who make CSOs keep the game fresh! :D
