Forester's Park - An RCT2 creation

Fri May 08, 2009 6:04 pm

Forester's Park

Forester's Park was taken over by STC Leisure three years ago. It was a failing park, and had just gone bankrupt, but in beautiful surroundings with lots of space, a pre-existing infrastructure and great potential. STC Leisure have a history of turning around bad parks with the injection of large amounts of initial investment into the rides and attractions. Let's take a look around Forester's Park before it was sold.

The park's only rollercoaster was the unthemed wild mouse, Fungacide. It was an old, off-the-shelf design but still popular with park guests.

The park also contains the popular, post-modern titled launch tower "LAUNCH YER' FACE ORFF!" which STC Leisure have decided to keep on park for the forseeable future.

The new owner has a great interest in Holiday World, and is basing the future development of the park on this. He is strongly thinking about installing a series of high-thrill wooden rollercoasters to compliment the character of the park. The park is not really themed, it is more of an amusement park, though the management haven't ruled out installing highly themed attractions in the future.

Year 1
The first year of owning the park, the management decided to install a mid-budget steel coaster called Vapour to raise gate numbers. It cleverly uses pre-existing buildings on park for the station to reduce cost.

Year 2
The park installed the wooden rollercoaster, Reactor. With it's signature double-drop, and speed filled layout which makes use of the terrain, Reactor has instantly jumped to the top of many enthusiasts lists, becoming known as one of the most intense woodies around. Management also decided to move the park's Enterprise from the carnival area of the park to it's new home supporting Reactor, with a complete refurbishment and new paint job.

Year 3
A new Huss Top Spin called "Dancer" was added to replace the Enterprise in the carnival. The park also decided to remove Fungacide, after many years of loyal service as it didn't fit with the high quality image of the new park.

A mysterious area of land has been cleared near "LAUNCH YER' FACE ORFF!" and fences have been erected around it. Piles of wood have also started to appear on-site. Rumours are circulating it is one of several potential areas on park management are considering building a new rollercoaster. Park management have also been seen on several trips to Holiday World, seemingly focusing their attention on The Raven. Despite the wood, enthusiasts on the forum "FTF" still believe it will be constructed by Switzerland's Bolliger & Mallibard after well known park fanatic Bjorn Bandbrooke obtained the information from the same source that told him Fungacide was being torn down.

If anyone wants anymore photos of any of the attractions at Forester's Park just ask and we will send a photography team down, free of charge. We will keep you updated on any progress on-site.

Sod it, I'm reviving this topic and park. Someone needs to keep the flag flying for RCT2! :P

Year 4

Forester's Park opened the year with a bang, with their biggest single investment in the parks history, opening Le Chateau Des Spiriteux (The Castle Of Spirits). This heavily themed GCI woodie sees the park move away from being an amusement park and more towards being a fully fledged theme park. The owner has been influenced in this new direction by a second great influence - Efteling. Combined with his love of Holiday World and their wooden rollercoasters, he has masterminded the parks second major wooden rollercoaster, Le Chateau Des Spiriteux, a mid-sized but very intense woodie which cleverly uses the existing terrain and utilises many tunnel sections.

It is themed to a beautiful European castle, though it is more like a palace. Guests enter through the gate house, and as they walk through the grounds to the castle itself are told of the castle's notorious spirits, who only awaken once a year and raise hell. Once inside the building, guests enter a Hex-style pre-show section and are told they must board their escape carraiges, and from there they take off on a top-speed escape through the woods to escape the spirits.

Also new for this year, the nearby tower ride "LAUNCH YER FACE ORF!" (named when the owner literally had a complete mental block) has been completely rethemed in a similar style and is now Spirit's Revenge.

Year 5

A quiet year for the park, and more a year of housekeeping. Ancient simulator ride "Doom Riders" was removed. A small rowing boat rental service was added to the lake, and much of the park recieved a freshen up, with new flowers everywhere and plenty of new fencing and queueline theming. The only other attraction to open this year was a low-key ferris wheel, Forester's Wheel. In keeping with the European theme, the Pirate Ship was also renamed Navire Des Mers (Vessel Of The Seas).

In Year 8 of the new management, the park had a record year, reaching 1800 visitors, up from under 1000 before Le Chateau Des Spiritueux. The park is currently considering it options for the next few years. Some of the proposals include a major new dark ride, a highly themed log flume, and a water coaster similar to De Vliegende Hollander at Efteling. Any suggestions would be welcome. :)

Can't you import rides from RCT1 and 2 to #3?

In theory you can... but I've found often woodies don't work. I get a message along the lines of "this coaster contains track elements that do not exist in RCT3" :?

But there is an option in the 'build ride' menu of RCT3 to import tracks from older versions of the game.

You can also import RCT1 (but I don't think RCT2) rides into NoLimits and make a rather sketchy POV of it there. :)

Year 9

Ignore the dates in the actual game after this, I seriously screwed up financially and it took many years to fix!

In Year 9, the park decided to add their largest capital investment ever in the park, opening water coaster Legend Of Nightmare Rock. The innovative block braking system means over 10 boats can run at any one time, dramatically increasing capacity. The ride features coaster sections, including helixes, drops and airtime, as well as boat sections, a dark ride section which a massive final drop to finish. The ride features high quality immersive theming, in a spectacular setting. Bet you can't guess where I got the inspiration for THIS one from. :P

Also this year saw the removal of Jaws of Fury from behind Reactor, due to quality, queue length and maintanence issues. This site is currently unused.

The park is considering a number of options for the next few years of its expansion:
  • Intamin Rapids ride
  • Enclosed coaster, either a Vekoma or a Mack
  • A dark ride
  • A well-themed Gyro Drop (Hurakan Condor style)
