As those of you who read the Fissure Lake topic will know there was a picture which was taken nearly a year ago that has recently been causing a bit of a stir. This picture in fact:
What's so special about it? Well it may look slightly familiar to anyone who played through Portal 2. At the time I hinted that something may be going on beneath. It is time that I showed you. I'll pass you over to my friend Cave Johnson who'll do the explaining for me:Panels: the planks of tomorrow
Excited now? Well don't get too excited. This is still a very experimental set and only the tip of the iceberg. This has been a year in the making and an animation nightmare but I finally have functioning Panels which really are as flexible as they appear.
There are a lot of issues but it's a start. Eventually I’m hoping to use the Panels to design a ride that will literally construct itself around the rider. Mental I know but admit it you want to see it
As of now the set includes:
Floor, Roof and Wall Panel's (no base)
Floor, Roof and Wall Mexican Wave Panel's
Floor, Roof and Wall Two Punch Panel's
1 Floor Panel which rises by a height of 2
1 Floor Panel which leans at a 45 degree angle
1 set of steps (still needs work)
1 1/4 size Crusher
1 full size Crusher from the roof
There is also a panel which acts as a door (opening to let trains through) and an advanced animation test panel but both of these still have animation issues.
Expect an eventual release but right now I need a break from the coding it took to get the project this far. Feedback welcomed, especially suggestions for other panel animation positions. Now that I’ve set it up adding a new animation sequence is fairly simple.
