RollerCoaster Tycoon 3D

Sun Oct 23, 2011 11:58 am

Now, i know a few people have already slightly touched on a RCT game being released on 3DS but now that the official trailer has come out i was wondering about people's thoughts on the 2012 upcoming game...

Trailer can be viewed here - http://www.rollercoastertycoon.com/

I'd love to think this game is one to look out for but i've only ever played on the normal DS and it doesn't seem that it'll have the power to run a game with the amount of features that RCT3 had - Can anyone prove me wrong? :)

I don't think it will be, but it will still have the addictive tidbits and does what it says on the tin, enough for us enthusiasts to buy it.

The 3DS is supposed to be a lot more powerful than all the others.

Despite my initial rant of not being able to play it I think this game has the potential to do really well. But let’s make this clear now: "It will not be a game for creating dream theme parks". From what I've heard it will have fairly similar but slightly altered mechanics to RCT3. Most of the things you can do in RCT3 will be preserved in this making it a great portable game.

However modding it will be near impossible and with very little advancement to the series there’s no reason for the RCT3 community to move onto this. But that’s fine. Atari are aiming this at a more casual audience. It’s important to remember that it was never just enthusiasts who played RCT and as soon as every notice there’s a new game it should start selling really well.

I’ve voted yes not because it will be better than RCT3 but because I expect this game to do well as a handheld game.

That's the one thing i was worried about. Having not played on a 3DS yet, i'm not sure how large and powerful the games can be and i thought that surely all the features from RCT3 wouldn't be able to go into a handheld console game... but maybe i'm wrong :?

I'll definitely be watching the game's development and once it does come out i'll be checking to see whether it's worth buying a 3DS for :D

I'd be all over this if it was on iOS.

Although I don't know much about the 3DS at the rate that technology has increased in capability a high end handhold device should be at least equal to a low end PC from 2004, probably a lot better. The one area it'll lack will be the amount of content the game can have. If you’re used to playing with thousands of individual pieces of custom content it won’t compare. But there should be at least as much stuff as the vanilla version of RCT3 had.

At least it shows they're still interested in developing the series...

It's being put on hold, it's stopped development to be resumed later.

I recently stumbled across this article: http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/29385

Where it is apparently being released March 13th, and with no marketing or news. This is probably the intended release date before it was shelved. The source  later says that it will come in May, which there may be some truth to. What do you guys think?

I don't think I want to get this any more. That looks terrible. I mean, I wasn't expecting it to be as good as the normal one for PC, but that looks even more worse than Thrill Ville.

This makes me doubt that atari have the ability to make a decent RCT4. It look an awful game and will definatly not be buying. Why don't Atari just re-write RCT3 to not crash so much on modern computers rather than making a DS game that looks awful and no one is going to buy.

Patching RCT3 would be a smart move by Atari

Having a 3DS, I will probably buy it. Im obviously not expecting a portable RCT3, but I think that the game looks good for entertainment value, rather than the enthusiast appeal. I do have to agree with the above that a Patch of some sort for modern computers would show a bit more commitment to their fanbase by Atari, but they just seem to forget us and move on the more casual market, but being a business they have to appeal to a wider market than the commited fans.
