BigAl's No Limits Coasters

Wed Nov 30, 2011 8:28 am

I've finally decided to start sharing a few of my creations online to get feedback and (hopefully) improve my work.

I'll upload the tracks to my Mega Upload and post a few pictures on my Photobucket so that you can see what you download before hand.

Apologies if any of my coasters seem a little bumpy in spots as I make all of them by hand rather than with Newton 2. Some of the supports could probably be a lot better too but I'll get better over time. :)

Here's my first one:

ANARCHY Express!
-------------------------
Data
Type: Wooden terrain roller coaster
Top Speed: 46mph
Length: 4525ft
Highest Point: 148.5ft
Trains: 3 (6 cars per train, 6 seats per car)

Please give me feedback so that I can get better with NL and please don't try and use my coaster as your own. :)

Whiplash looks really good. Nice pacing and layout. There are a couple of points where a hill could of been lowered and I'd of ended it slightly sooner while there was still some punch but apart from that it's excellent.

Thank you very much for your feedback Nightfall! :) The ending does look a little too soft so perhaps I should have made the last dip a bit lower and made the climb into the brake-run a little steeper? The hill with the trim on it was designed to look like you're going to collide with the track above it but the other two could have been lower.

That would be good but I'd just cut off one of the turns near the end so that it's just long enough to not feel short but short enough that you're left wanting more. The trim was a nice idea but I’ll have to watch it again later because I didn't really notice it before. Apart from that though there’s nothing I can criticize.

Next up is 'Twisted Metal', a landscaped B&M Inverted roller coaster that stays mostly below tree level. :)

Whiplash is preety good, lots of ride in a tight space, some of the transitions and banking need work, and some elements feel a bit sharp, but overall it's a fairly solid effort and I'll go try out the others now.

Pretty epic terrain woodie that.

Banking and transitions again need work. Not in the same sense as the last one, as correct banking and heartlining wouldn't fit it's character, but it's still not quite right. Try immitating the style of this kind of ride a bit more and you'll be on to a winner.

My only real problem is the lift at the end. Kills of the fun, especially as it stacks. Otherwise a fantastic job.

Whilst I was building it I tried to make it run back into the station but it just missed the station by a few feet so I decided to add in some brakes and throw in a few more trains and an undercover lift. It only stays on the lift for about 10 seconds but I get what you mean. As for my banking... I'm poop at banking!

Thanks for your feedback! :)

I plan on teaching people anyway, so don't worry about it. :)

Where's the feedback for my rides anyway?! ;)

I liked Anarchy a lot and think it would be immense to ride however the trains seemed literally double the length they should be. I don't think I've ever seen a six-person car in trains of longer than 3 cars, certainly not six. Also, whilst it got off to a strong start, it seems a little odd to have such a drop from the station and then require a second chain lift back up to the station at the end. Why not just have the station lower, and get rid of the second lift?

Very good though.

I wanted a massive long train similar to the trains on the Ultimate. Originally it was supposed to just be one train and it was supposed to just shoot back up into the station. Unfortunately I decided I wanted to extend the coaster by adding a few more twists and curves and it ran out of energy and could no longer reach the station without another lift. I never plan any of my rides, i just go with them. In this case I just kept building track along the terrain and got carried away! :P

Next time I need to plan my coaster. :P
