Summersdale Springs - Mankey's Park

Tue Mar 27, 2012 12:40 pm

Those who have me on facebook will know I've started making a theme park from scratch! I recently bought myself a hench new pc so i can actually play games like this properly without having to get frustrated at frame rate. (I also play BF3 on PC if anyone else here does.)

Right on with it I guess.

These were the first few screenshots I posted yesterday.

Big car park (free of course ;) )

Hotel as seen from behind looking over at the entrance and the Car Park. Note the suite with the balcony at the front of the photo! :)

The opposite end of the car park, looking over at the hotels and the entrance.

Since I took these screencaps I've updated the car park with it's very own Silver Star-esque B&M Mega. But about half the size. (I think about 150ft or so.)

A nice test run in the morning :)

Bits of the entrance, still to be updated

Hope you guys like it! :)

Looks really good - I'm liking the Silver Star style layout over the car park  :)

Thank you! I'm really enjoying making this so far! The only issue is, because I've been so slow getting back into RCT3 I don't know which mods and custom scenery things to go for, there are a number of things I would like. I just read captains realistic rapids tutorial and that looks AMAZING!

But no things I'm after:
Picnic benches and whatnot, Ya know like tables with umbrellas and stuff so i can have some outdoor eating places
Some realistic theming, anything in particular.
Is there a mod which allows you to build over restrictions? I mean like placing walls and stuff directly over paths? It's frustrating not being able to build fences directly on the edge of paths like you could in RCT2.

Any tips or advice would be wonderful guys! :D

Thanks again! :)

Have a look at Vodhin's cafe kit for table and chairs. The Shyguy Circus set contains umbrellas/parasols :)

Both sets work well together:

Hehe... I like the cheeky tunnel to get under the path there.

Regarding the wall restrictions, there is a cheat to turn them off, which you have to re enter every time you open the park  name a guest "M Brookes". Alternatively, use custom scenery without colision detection.

For custom scenery, you would be better off asking the likes of Captain or Nightfall than me. I've only just returned to RCT3 myself, after a long period of thinking "what's the point? The game's too unstable", so I'm well behind the times and trying to catch up!

One thing I have noticed is that although you have custom supports, the ingame ones are still there. To get rid of them, turn the detail and draw distance sliders for supports to zero. Much easier than using "support killers". Though bare in mind that you will now have to custom support everything.

This should be an interesting park. I look forward to seeing where it goes.

Thanks for the tips guys! Will come in handy! :D Next up will be the station for the B&M Mega, undecided on what to call it though! :?

The only issue is actually getting on the PC nowadays, been so busy with uni work, and whenever we're at home Steph (the girlfriend) likes to play sims for stupid amounts of time! :P

Do people ever do multiple scenery set downloads anywhere on the net? I'd love a massive easy to get bundle of everything useful! :D

Have a look at NetOn2. It contains all the popular CS sets for RCT3, and takes about a minute to install :)

Haha! Well she did originally run sims on my mac, but the thing is I needed that for work (Has logic and whatnot on it so I can produce things for uni) so I let her install it on the new comp! :P

She seems happy, so that makes me happy! :P Trying to get her into RCT now...

Right! Little update guys! :D

"Orbit", the B&M Mega coaster is now complete! :D Name was chosen because the ride repeatedly circles the car park (as long as it stays open :P haha)

The entrance has been updated, and tiny changes have been added to the car park (nothing worth noting)

This is a nice start for your park. If it works for Europa I’m sure it’ll do well for you  ;)  Good name Orbit.

I'll try and help with custom scenery, but I must admit I'm a bit out of the current what's hot list myself. Since I started making my own scenery I've got into the awful habit of just sticking to the core sets and making the little details myself. But the core sets I'd recommend would be:
Anything from Shyguy (most the set's on this page are but check the poster first)
and
Ralfvieh's CSO

That’ll give you a good start.

Time for an update! Been aloof recently due to uni work and whatnot, but knuckled down and had some time.

I originally made this rather nice restaurant...

BUT, SOME idiot today saved over the original file with an empty park. :|

Luckily, I back these saves up so I have lost the restaurant, but hey, what I've got instead is better! I present my Medieval area which is currently under construction! :D

You have no idea how jealous I am of your abilities! :P The green corkscrew coaster looks tremendous and that castle building in the center of it looks extremely detailed! May I ask which CS set that is? Great work! Can't wait to see more! :D
The only thing I like better than roller coasters,Alton Towers, Towers times and Theme Parks is HARRY POTTER, yes, I am a Potterhead and proud of it! :)

I'm not sure, I downloaded a couple of Vodhin's things. I think it's from NetOn though. Look it up! :D They're great! Glad you're liking what I'm doing. It's merely patience! :)

Also, for those who give a damn, I use this as the new coaster's theme (it plays mainly around the medieval area too.)

Click me!

I think the metal percussive sounds like a slow lift hill! :D Plus the modes used are very medieval. Love it! :D

Right guys, not so much of an update but more of a new insight. I just uploaded a video of the park to youtube which can be found here.

http://youtu.be/-5OjAQYDbc4

I think it's good to show a video just to get a hint of the atmosphere that surrounds it. This also contains POV's of both of the coasters! Enjoy!
