RCT3: OakTree Park.

Sun Apr 07, 2013 2:24 pm

Hello Everyone and welcome to the beautiful Oaktree park.

A family, the richards, bought the 'OakTree Estate' in 2001, with hopes of opening a theme park. 12 years later and it has became a reality, welcome to Oaktree park.

Oaktree is best described as a family park with just 1 major rollercoaster and only 1 other inverting ride. All the other rides are family based and a couple are thrill seeker based, this is the first season so there isn't much in the park.

It's been a while since I was back at the park because it was closed for the season and I was amazed as I went back in to the park....

Image
What is this I see popping up over the oak trees?

Image
WOW! It's called Medusa!:D

The park said this in the local newspaper:

"We have invested £9,000,000 in to a brand new rollercoaster, The first of it's kind in the UK. The ride, MEDUSA, is the UK's only B&M Floorless rollercoaster, 2013 is the big year of rollercoasters, Alton Towers have the Smiler and know we have Medusa. We felt like we needed to up our game in the UK Themepark industry so we decided to work with thrill lovers to bring you this unique experience. We know it's going to pull in the crowds!"

So, the UK's first floorless coaster!:D Awesome...

Some stats from RCDB:

top speed: 63mph.
Ride Lenght: 22988ft
Inversions: 6
-Sidewinder
-Zero G-Roll
-Cobra Roll
-Zero G-Roll
-Corkscrew

Max G-force: 5g
Drop height: 131ft
Tallest point: 140ft

you can see this is going to be a very intense experience..

some reviews from today:

DeJaVu:
A vekoma boomerang... The ride it's self is fast, intense and very fun! It makes 6 inversions (Same as Medusa!) but 3 are backwards.... The ride is brand new to the park and was bought new from Vekoma, it is still very rough:( I love the ride experience though! 4 stars.

Serpent's fury! (Flying dutchman gold mine):
Looks stunning in it's new yellow paint, themed around snakes as it is right next to Medusa! Perfect for kids as there is no 'big' drops but is a rough ride in it's corners. Brilliant and looks a lot nicer now! 3 stars.

THE ASYLUM:
Brilliant experience, keeps you on the edge! Building 13 is very good and plays with your mind, the ride is also good, plays with your body and is great for everyone! 4 stars.

Medusa:
The new ride! It looks brill with its blue and purple colour scheme! It stands out over the ever-growing sky line and really packs a punch! you can really feel the G on the front row as you're exposed! 5 stars.

I didn't do any for the other rides as they are mainly flat rides.

Here is some more images of Medusa:

Serpent's fury looking stunning and Medusa's chain

That's all for now! What do you think?:)

Today the park announced something big.

The park is closing for the year and they are spending a lot on updating the park and adding a new area to the park. Up to know it's going to cost the park aprox £21,000,000 and will feature a B&M Coaster, 2 thrilling flat rides, 2 family flat rides and a new a new Harvester restraunt.

The park was also pleased to announce that it has been bought by a large theme park group..

Also they have offered 'Oakies' (what they call their loyal customers) a full year of visits to the park to see the construction and maybe have a go on the rides! I get to do this as I bought an annual pass what lasts 2 years!:D

Update coming soon!!!

Try something like Nemesis/Black Mamba. A well-themed, beautiful laid-out terrain hugging invert. ;) That'd be a challenge! :P

The park has released plans for a new B&M Inverted. With a contact with Warner bro's Medusa is being renamed and the new ride looks like a Batman: The Ride clone

I have heard they are pretty intense though! I can't wait to see what the new area will be now then...

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

On another note, your park looks good. I wouldnt say amzing, or fantastic though. The asylum building is far too blocky. It needs some detail, and shape. Also, cut down on the supports on medusa. The ride looks like a good layout, but i feel the supports let it down. I love the wild mouse. It is really accurate, and looks fun too. :)

With all due respect, if you were using your invert for that reason, it wasn't exactly what I call 'terrain hugging', nor did I find the layout extraordinary, but a nice coaster. :)

The new ride was scrapped by the park today as it was becoming "too six flags"

We were promised a ride and the park have said they will give it us :D

I will be going for an 'Oakies' day so I will get some pictures :)

OakTree is now installing a B&M Dive Machine, Like it's sister park, Valley Lake.

The ride will be built next to 'BATMAN: THE RIDE' and will be 100ft tall with a 111ft drop.

I will try and get some pictures for you guys:)
