Epsom Resort

Wed Apr 09, 2014 8:25 am

Hi there!

I'm Dan, head of Surrey entertainments and I have some very exciting news!

It's currently 2020. After it was decided to stop racing horses at the Epsom Downs in 2017, the site has been unused for a few years. I am delighted to announce that Surrey entertainments has bought the site and the land that used to be funded by tourists, eg the old car park, shops, accommodation and roads in the area. We have a healthy amount of land to make a theme park!

Despite being very close to Chessington World of Adventures and Thorpe Park, Epsom Resort will be different from them both as it will not just be for a certain age range ... it will be for everyone! For this reason, we are very much inspired by Alton Towers Resort and therefore find an Alton Towers forum the perfect place to share our progress!

Our park is set to open in 2022. I do hope you will follow us on a wonderful journey through building the next big theme park! As a teaser, here's some work we've already done having removed any old buildings relating to Epsom Downs and stating on a fresh surface!

We have our second ride! A teacups ride, which will be a part of a themed park area, but the scenery's not here yet so you'll just have to wait... however the name is Medieval Mayhem.

As our first rollercoaster, we are looking at something relatively cheap and family-orientated. We are looking into either a spinning coaster or a junior coaster, so please do comment below and say which you would rather see built. Junior or Spinning?

Spinning, much more fun and family friendly, look at Sonic, suitable for young uns but still pulls the early 20s. Also looks better and will have a uniqueness within the park, where as a junior coaster will just be another "normal" coaster

Ooh, this looks really good so far! Part of me wishes this was real, since it would be so close! I have seen a fair at the Downs before, around the time of the Derby, but travelling fairs have never appealed to me for some reason. I would love to see a horse racing-themed attraction here as a nod to the past, or present if you will.

It all looks very good. One thing is when taking screenshots of your park, make sure you get rid of all the icons first. It looks neater and more realistic.
If you don't know how to do this, click on one of your guests and rename them 'David Walsh'. After that click CTRL and U together and they should disappear. Remember not to rename any of your workers as the, cheat if you like, won't work.
Hope this helps :)

Hi Danny,

As you can see from above posts, I do try to keep things as realistic as possible (talking about the park as if it were real and I was the manager), and I do know how to do the crtl-u bit, but there's one problem. As my park is closed, there are no peeps in my park!

Once the park opens in 2022, I will be doing that, but for now, I don't have anyone to name as "David Walsh". Nevertheless, I appreciate your suggestion and I will be using it in the future :)

Theres a way around this. Before you take your screenshots, open another park with peeps in, and rename one there. It will now work in this park if you have done it correctly.

Thanks for the tip I'll try it :)

Lots of construction has been completed over the last month!

We're going for a compact feel, but there is some space behind it that we will be using :)
