I've seen this before (not sure if it was on here or another forum). I think the building at the top is a monastry, and the path was built by the monks (possibly?)

I think maybe's after all the climbing there is even the smallest chance they would buy something to eat...anyway if they weren't hungry what was the point in climbing up in the first place??

As far as I can gather from abit of research the free meal and even the resuraunt seem to be completly made up. The walk on the other hand is very real and is the Mt Huashan Hiking Trail :)
