Wedding Songs - ideas

Sun Sep 07, 2008 5:06 pm

hey guys,

with only 2 months (jebus) to go until I get married we are now sorting some of the smaller details.
We are really struggling with some music choices though, we need 5 songs for the ceremony

2 x guests gather
1 x us entering
1 x register siging
1 x us leaving

We have the entrance and leaving songs, and a possible third contender floating about. The thing is we have gone through our itunes, cd collections and collective memories and really cant decide any songs.

Any ideas guys? We'd really appreciate it.

at this moment in time (after spending two hours searching random wedding sites and you tube) anything you think might work.

Ideally slow and romantic but we arent fussy at the min. I even contemplated the air theme for guests gathering - how embarrasing

But owt really, classical, pop, just anything

Might not be suitable but I love this song.

It's Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros, the title music to BBC's Planet Earth.

Also Peter pan - Flying. The theme to the current Disney adverts.

:D :D

New York, New York by Sinatra is an essential end-of-the-night singalong

Also another great Beatles wedding song would be Something, so romantic... *daydreams*

hey guys, with a mere 3 weeks to go until the big day I thought you might like to know the songs we have chosen.

Can I just say this must be the 8th or 9th time we have done this list and up to the day we had to confirm to the registrar we were still debating. Anyway click the link below to get my you-tube bits and click "ceremony" playlist.

http://uk.youtube.com/user/oldgitben

Song 1 - as we do the last check in the mirror to make sure we look perfect, our guest will be gathered and seated to this, thankfully its a long song.

Song 2 - the song me and my sister, the kids, then Rich and his best friend will enter to.

Song 3 - not the version on youtube but the album version (not as sad and lyrically very amazing) we will sign our register to

Song 4 - what me and rich will leave the room to, its the only song that has been permenant, just the quirkyness and the lyrics are so so amazing.

So there you have it! While for alot of the ceremony we've had lots of friends and family help out we've kept this list secret and no-one except you guys know what songs will play on the day. While 2 TTF members will be present at the ceremony they cant tell my family lol.

Anyway wish us luck and once again thanks for the help!

Ben & Rich x

oh kaycee stop moaning, ive even got you a free room the night before - you can be my last "fling". And you always look pretty anyway, and its not as if my family and friends will know if its a new dress or not.
Be happy you havent got the worlds heaviest suit to wear - its so thick as well and there will be open fires too! Im gonna sweat like a fat lass at a disco.

Im really excited, its all paid for now too. Only thing left to sort is the flowers and its only button holes as we arent flowery-people. Table center pieces are dead cool though.

I swear this is the biggest thing I've ever tackled and i cant believe its almost done! Photos of course will be shared on facebook

Being a Bellringer, I have to ring for numerous weddings, therefore I get to hear the majority of popular choices used! But it's in a church, so we dont get very dramatised weddings sadly, with the decent music etc etc... its all on organ usually! People for some very bizarre reason like to enter to Bach's Tocatta making them instantly look like vampires! But people also like to enter, and sign to Pachelbel's Canon!

I'm loving the entering music Ben, will be really romantic :) i like weddings like the one you're planning, its not so boring and traditional as such, its just really really... perfect :) Not too cheesy, but also, not too traditional.

Good luck on the day Ben :) I wish you all the best with this lucky lass of yours!

^^ Chris ^^
