Cars

Sat Feb 13, 2010 12:44 am

Well to be honest im very surprised topics about cars never really seem to pop up on the forum that often. Thus I was wondering if we have any fellow TTF'ers who have an interest in cars be it modern or old.
I've been pretty lucky in the sense that I have grown up in a household surrounded by automobiles and related treasures. Or to put it simply, my dad is a car nut. When I was younger I didn't particularly share this interest, which always left my parents baffled as my friends couldn't get enough of visiting my house, however over the last three years or so my interest has grown rapidly, most likely down to the fact I've started driving myself. The main difference however, being that I do have a thing for modern cars, whereas my dad, with the exception of a few marque's is a thoroughbred classic car enthusiast; you name it, chances are its been parked on our drive. Thats not to say I don't enjoy classics, and im sure I will become a fan in the future, only the technology and gadgetry in new cars keeps me interested.

Does anyone else share this passion?

I like cars, get Auto Express every week. My fav brands are Ford and Vuaxhall. Feet on the ground and all that! My favourite car is the Ford Focus RS, but I'd make do with just a Focus! I'm also in my final year oof becoming a mechanic!

I have medium passion in cars, more recently because i've been driving for the last 2 years, i don't own my own car, but use the parent's, plus insurance is ridiculous for male new drivers, and my parents weren't prepared to put a car there own and me as a named driver (which is the way most teens do it).

But still i like cars, and its interesting how the industry have responded in the last few years and the financial crisis.

I'm interested in modern day cars, although i recognize why people like the charms of older cars, i guess there is an ore of nostalgia around them.
But anyway I'm infatuated by this

I think its just one the best looking hatches, as well the new renaultsport 250 looks and apparently is awesome,
more importantly my mum is ditching her current car for one of those hopefully =)

I like to keep up to date with what's new but I still preffer classics.

Think on the lines of.. Vauxhall Lotus Carlton, AC Cobra, Audi Quattro, Lancia Delta.

Not forgetting this: http://www.autocar.co.uk/bugatti/eb/ =P~

Subscribed to Autocar on youtube and they release some pretty impressive videos showing the latest supercars and practicle cars. This is an example of how exclusive of a car they can get hold of and it is a proper car ;) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHjeW37Nrpk

iriderides101, good choice in going for the 3-door Megane. It's easily the most beautiful car in its sector and exudes more class than any of its rivals. I just wish they'd make the Renault Trophy version road legal:

Just look at it!

But yes, I am definately a car fan. I love pretty much all cars apart from Hybrids and Porsches (I know that they destroy just about anything in their respective sector on a track but I find them ugly and plain boring).

I'm beginning to get an appreciation for older hot hatches such as the Renault 5 Turbo and the Renault 205 T which were born out of group B Rallying. They are great ways to go really fast on a budget.

Despite all this, outside of Gran Turismo and dodgem drifting competitions at Flamingoland, I can't really say that I'm much of a driver as I do not own a car
